I have an 04 LJ and I had to pull the tank to get at the shock bolts. When I put the tank back up in and drove the jeep around the block I noticed gas was dripping out of the skid. I pulled the tank again and it looks like it is filling up around the top of the tank where the sending unit is. I tried to get a decent picture. I thought maybe it was just the line that failed and it may be just that. I figured I would post a picture and see if anyone knew that it was maybe something else before I put it all back together. I wasnt sure if there was a washer or o ring around the sending unit possibly. I did not mess with the sending unit at all.

Try hot wiring the pump with the line hooked up and see if it is leaking. If it is you can make a new line or try and get another

Wiring diagrams are in the resources section to find the right wires to use.

We typically refer to what you're calling the sending unit as the fuel pump assembly.

That assembly consists of the frame, the pressure regulator/filter on top, fuel pump itself and an upper and lower screen. The sending unit hangs off the side of the pump assembly.

It's really easy to mess up installing the pump assembly gasket.

And it's 20 year old plastic fuel lines...so...yeah...

100% I will die. Hahah.

Autozone sells the Clips for pretty darn cheap. There’s 2 sizes 5/16 and 3/8. I believe the 3/8 is vehicle side and 5/16 is the click size of the Jeeps Fuel filter. I highly recommend inspecting your fuel filter. Attached is a picture of the issue I had. I replaced the hose, clips, and eventually I got pissed and just bought a brand new fuel line (not vehicle specific) and used fuel clamps and that still didn’t fix it. The pressure in the system would shoot fuel out of the micro hole which was made when my fuel filter bent and punctured itself. If you have any questions feel free to ask. It took me weeks to finally narrow it down!
