Only one of the three had cv joint axleshafts. So when trying to look it up you wouldn't be using a tj or xj
2 out of the 3 , ZJ and XJ with NP-242 transfer case ( part time/full time ) had cv joint front axles.
I wondered if the 242 xj's also got cv's when typing that. I've never seen one with cv's

I don't know the years , but I've seen XJ both with cv shafts and without . The one I know that had it was a Limited trim.
Spot on Jzeus! The attached pic shows what was vacuumed out of the axle tubes.
The Jeep is back together (w/ OEM axles and new U-joints) and is a bit more road-worthy.
Since you’ve got it cleaned out now, make it a habit like me when you wash the jeep take your garden hose and spray up in the tubes for a minute or so to wash out any stuff that’s made its way into it. I also stick the hose into the highest hole on the frame rail and let it run for a few minutes to flush out any crap that’s in it also.
