From one noise to another

I went thru this too when I bought my 99 that had 190k on it. I'd recommend checking your front axle u joints too and your wheel hubs while you're in there.

I'm just trying to get this on the road. I will check one box then on to the next. I'm not saying you are wrong....just don't want to open Pandora's box all at once.

If you don't mind pulling the DS, you can use either greaseable or sealed.

But unless you are running deep water all the time, sealed are fine.

My OEM sealed went 250k mi.

Now, with a greaseable centering ball, I'm pulling the shaft routinely.

You can pull the shaft without dropping the skid too

Understood. While I may go wheeling I don't think I will be doing much water foraging in this jeep. But if I do I have been warned.

Now I just have to wait for the parts.

My OEM sealed went 20k in the PNW rain. I'm still sticking with non greasable but when I do my yearly tear down to regrease the JJs on my Savvy arms I'm going to pack new grease in all the u-joints. Will be highly entertaining.
