Hello, I have an 05 TJ RME. I have been having some issues with my multifunction switch and plan to replace it, but I wanted to know whether I should plan to replace the blinker relay as well.

Previously, I had the common fog light issue, but because I don't have any fog lights installed I let it linger for a while. Recently, it got to the point that my turn signals only worked intermittently and occasionally made the 'machine gun' sound that others have referenced.

I decided to take the time to see if I could repair the multifunction switch, and successfully resolved the fog light issue. However, the turn signals went from intermittent to never functioning. The headlights and hazard lights both work normally. I have taken the multifunction switch apart and put it back together several times now and once I was able to get the turn signals working normally, but the headlights were not working because I did not install that slider correctly. When I fixed that the turn signals were back to staying off (no lights on dash, etc) no matter what I tried. I have checked all the fuses, and have not recently replaced any bulbs.

So, I was curious whether anyone here had any insight as to whether I should order a new blinker relay along with a new multifunction switch? I am unclear what exactly the relay does, and whether the hazard lights working correctly were any indication as to it's status.

Thanks in advance.

What is the condition of the plastic connector that plugs into the mfs? Mine was melted.

Ok, I've attached a photo of the turn signal connector. There appear to be a few pins that are not as prominent as the rest. Do you think that could be causing the issues that I'm seeing?

Update here for posterity: I ordered the Wells Vehicle Electronics Multi Function Switch and Connector, based on this thread: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads...cs-wve-multi-function-switch-connector.72293/

I recieved the parts today and tested just the new switch (same blinker relay, same connector) and both my headlights and turn signals are once again working correctly. However I am very glad that I ordered the connector, as the repeated attaching and removal of the MFS has degraded my current connector even further, so I will be replacing that now!
