Hello everyone. I recently bought my first ever Jeep. It's a 2005 Unlimited LJ 4.0 6-speed with 40k miles on it. I'm pretty stoked and have a lot of plans for it (Feel free to leave any suggestions on what I should add or upgrade). Like I said, this is my first ever Jeep that I've owned. I previously owned many Toyota's, 1990 4Runner, 1990 Pickup, 1993 Pickup, and 1995 Land Cruiser, and I guess I'm on the dark side now. I was wondering if there's anything specific I should be on the lookout for preventative maintenance wise and what I can do to make the whole ownership process as pleasant as possible.

I would change all fluids including brake fluid.check brakes,do a dry steering test and go over all suspension parts.

By the time you get through that you'll have a much better idea of the condition of your jeep

Thank you for the advice. I should've started out the post by explaining what I have done. All fluids have been changed, and have been thoroughly looked through (IR spectrometer for oil and lab test for the others). All of the suspension and steering components are in great condition and there is zero rust anywhere on the vehicle. The only thing that has been replaced so far, besides the fluids, is the battery and the ignition switch actuator pin.

Install some Black Magic Brakes front pads and new rotors.

Sell if possible (or scrap if not) that Chinesium front bumper and either find an OEM take-off or buy a bumper from @Fluxor when they're available.

I'd also upgrade the terrible OEM(?) headlights to the Toyota H4 kit or some quality LEDs.
