Hi all, I have this wierd issue I haven't run across. Just finished rebuilding my 4.0 with 0630 head, bored 20 over and Installed stage one cam. When inspecting block and head for cracks after back from.machine shop I didn't notice the bolt holes for the exhaust/ intake run through on any. It appears I have a very slight coolant hiss coming from the 3 intake runner bolt next to a head studs. Did i need to apply sealer to the bolt also? Let me know you thoughts.

Pretty sure there's something regarding the left front head bolt piercing a water jacket, a manifold bolt teeing into that bolt hole, and the need for sealant when reassembling. You can find the specifics in the FSM for your year of TJ in the resource section here on the site (free PDFs for download).

Speaking of "your year of TJ", you may want to consider filling out your forum profile. Knowing the year, model, gearbox, etc. might help identify your issues better by letting others know something more about the vehicle when addressing your posts.

I certainly will fill out the profile. I was sure it had already been done. The front left head bolt was very much sealed nicely with the correct sealer I just did think twice on the exhast bolt hissing steamed coolant out of it. I'm so hoping it's not a new Crack. As nothing went over temp with new sensors, fan clutch, and 195 temp t stat...
