Hoovie breaks down EV lease deals

They say 1-year-old EVs are selling at half original MSRP, manufacturers seem to be loosing money across-the-board with EVs, EVs are not what they were promised to be, and none of that surprises me. The whole EV thing was forced via pressure from governments. When you have to force a fart, or listen to government, it's going to be shit.

My guess is Tesla goes first unless .gov subsidizes them. The main buyers are lefties, the right never wanted EVs, and the Cybertrucks I've seem in person look like clown cars not working trucks. The green new deal is on hold and the goal is cheaper gasoline and gas powered cars.

So who are the Tesla buyers? A couple people on the right supporting DOGE. All the green hippies on the left have been looking to dump anything Tesla. I doubt they'll be buying in the future.

There's a movement now to vandalize Tesla cars, trucks, and charging infrastructure based on politics. (List making phase). There aren't enough on the right to make up for the decrease in lefty demand. It will take a government bailout from a friendly president to keep it afloat.

Looked like about every 2nd or 3rd vehicle out in LA last week was a Tesla.

Haven't read this whole thread so I don't know if this has been posted already but it looks like Dodge is done with the gasoline powered Charger and Challenger saying the only choice will be electric. (Scroll down past the Ford Trail van article)

https://www.jalopnik.com/ford-quietly-kills-the-transit-trail-over-supply-issues-1851762738/

Be careful with jalopnik, they have a very politically left lean with everything. I'm pretty sure Dodge has already reversed that statement months ago. They announced a few months ago that the V6 will be available, and now they're suggesting a V8 too.

"Dodge CEO Strongly Hints at Return of V8 Dodge Charger

Dodge CEO Matt McAlear says "there will be powertrain variations to come" on the Charger and that a V8 is on the table if there's a business case for it."

My take away from that (other than wanting my 14 minutes back): If you want a fancy EV, you can possibly lease one for very little money. Range is still the issue for a long distance vehicle, but as a commuter, a cheap Audi e-tron would be pleasant, I suppose.

Also, they are calculating money lost by the manufacturers using sticker price which is an inflated number. If you want to quantify the loss or profit with these lease/depreciation scenarios, you’d need to know the manufacturer’s cost for the vehicle.

I would agree that they would want to keep it on the table and follow the demand/money, especially in these politically changing times. Not doing so doesn't sound like good business sense. I didn't know that about Jalopnik though, I don't follow them. Time will tell.

No way, Tesla is far and away the EV leader and they actually make money on theirs. Yes the lunatic left have turned on them but they are still a ton of fans as they are the best option out there. The main competitive threat is from China but tariffs may stop that. Everyone else is gaining but operating at a loss and mainly getting involved because of government mandates. Take those away and the field will thin out quite a bit.

Of course. They were the best lefty option and CA is lefty heaven. Now the left won't buy them their sales are slumping worldwide, and the left is no longer their market. Does anyone really think the right will be buying Teslas to make up sales? Eho on the right wants an EV?. All EVs sales will die down with Tesla accelerated faster tgan the rest.

Might as well be thinking conservatives will be buying wind turbines, battery walls, and solar panels as natural gas prices go down.

I'm looking forward to cheaper gasoline, natural gas and power company electricity as the green new deal dies.

How Tesla survives that without gov mandates/subsidies while pissing off the people that pushed for green energy escapes me.

Noticed the MSRP too was surprised he didn’t talk invoice, he does have some experience in a dealership.

I’d entertain a $15k new commuter EV to add to the fleet. Keep the other cars for travel and fun.

I didn't delve deep enough to see if it has the usual EV bullshit like electric door handles and electrically opening charging doors. It might be more reliable than a Tesla - which isn't a hard bar to reach.

Honestly I don't know what your objection is to electric door handles and charging doors, just download the 'door opening' app & you're golden, sheesh

Do however make sure to pay the monthly subscription fee lest you be trapped inside

$15K is what an EV *should* cost - we'll probably never see it.

The Chinese company BYD makes one under 10k.... but you are correct, well never see it.

We need to get the government out to free up the corporations to make stripped down cheaper cars with a few options. Then revolt against this crap.

When I retire, I'll probably ditch computer sysyems in general. Maybe learn to program on secure Linux hardware/software like stuff from PureOS and watch pirated movies for entertainment.

Blip off the radar some and make them work for it with other people's ring cameras in a small town somewhere.

Now I truly know why people left the comforts of Europe to boat ride to the US and camp across the country. To get away from governments and powerful people.

As much as Musk talks about limiting .gov, he's developing all the tools they need to destroy the last bits of privacy. Self driving cars that collect way more data about you than a car needs, and a connected anywhere in the world satelite system, and X. He's no different than Google, Amazon, or Facebook. He just wants to get to Mars.

LOL Brother I have been preaching this for years. what is the difference between ICE and EV cars?

ICE is pushed by Petro, put the hose in and its yours and gas just gives out a few fumes.

EV is pushed by ELECTRONS and its leaves a trail. To understand go look at your Smart Meter on your home. The word SMART is found on refrigerators, Washing Machines, Dryer HVAC etc.

I ICE car does not have any idea where I go?

The EV knows exactly where you go.

Electrons do the bidding of of folks like you and me.

EXAMPLE (REAL). I had a HVAC company install a new HVAC system. It was sucking propane that winter like a $2 dollar hooker on payday. Dealer and installed a new Thermostat, nothing changed. Called them again, another new thermostat. Called them again, another new thermostat. Called the home office and DEMANDED they send out a Engineer to look at this. THe office is far away its in Tyler Tx and I am in Boerne.

The engineer arrives tells me its NOT the thermostat. How do you know? I looked at it already! WHAT? HOW, you just got our of your car and we standing in the driveway. Oh, I pulled it at my office in Tyler, what is wrong is the compressor. Why did the HVAC company not know this. Don't but I am going to find out after leave here. He looks at the outside unit and says your compressor is rusted solid and its not he compressor that matches the model number. They sold you a used unit!

I was out money and the HVAC company was no longer a vendor for TRANE!

EV will tell the tale of the electrons. THey will know every move you make in your vehicle from the radio station you listen to and for how long you exact speed when you had that wreck etc etc etc.

The GOVT will know every move you make, if you buy anything that has the word SMART. The engineer from TRANE told me he checked he even checked to see what TEMP we had set on the Thermostat, in case were running it to high.

BUY and EV and you are OWNED by the CIty, County, State and the Feds they all have access to your data...

Lawyers will have a heyday with EVs. Told your wife you working late, you were only you were at Blanco Rd and at Empty Arms NO-Tell Motel in room 12 from 7 pm - 10:04....

This is completely correct - including ICE vehicles made more recently. Which is but one reason I'm not playing that game, I'm out of the new car business.

Reminds me of an article I read a while back about the EULA agreements for new vehicles. Stupid stuff, like connect your phone to the infotainment system and the vehicle manufacturer legally has access to all of your phone's information, and YOU are supposed to inform anyone that gets into your vehicle of the EULA and they agree to its terms and conditions by default. Sure, I'm gonna read off a 40 page spec to anyone/everyone who gets in the vehicle.

This was a Consumer Reports article, and a team of their investigators worked for over 6 months to find out what the vehicle manufacturers did with the information and could not get a straight answer from any of them.

They did find that Tesla lets you opt out, but if you do the vehicle doesn't function.

Its all about the PHOOOOOONNE!!

Pure disgust.
