Hi everyone- My 1997 TJ went i to thw shop with a low idle speed when engone warmed up. Jeep guy at the shopsaid ECU’s on this model are notorius for ECU reset issues if batteries are changed/disconnected (said they usually reset withon 50 miles). Evidently mine didn’t, so he reset it and she runs prisitine now. He mentioned there is a process you can do at home……anyone have a link to that process? Cant find it on my own, any help greatly appreciated!

1. Disconnect the POSITIVE battery Terminal and touch it to ground for 30 seconds. (This is to discharge the PCM capacitors, which maintain the Adaptive Memory.
2. Reconnect the Battery Cable
3. Turn Ignition Switch to the "ON" position but DO NOT start the engine
4. Turn Headlight "ON"
5. Turn Headlights "OFF"
6. Turn Ignition Key "OFF"

The PCM Adaptive memory has now been flashed, or erased from the PCM.

NOTICE: Many idle issues are also related to IAC and pulling it out to clean/wipe off can also clear up rough or low idles.
