DIY Cowl Intake

You left the ground in the original spot right?

Eh. Not for real. But it does seem like it’s asking for trouble. OP lives in Cali. It never rains there.

Keep that cowl drain clean.
The only engine we've ever had to pull the plugs to pump out the water was in a TJ with a cowl intake that parked in the rain. The only saving grace was at least one cylinder was so full that when the owner hit the starter, it didn't rotate the crank even 1 degree.

That's funny only one I ever had to pull plugs and watch the water fountain was a 1985 Chevrolet Scottsdale pickup. Two drunk teenagers thought it was fun hauling but through puddles till we hit a flooded bridge. Knocked on the neighbors door that morning asking for help before our parents killed us. Neighbor was an old car guy still has his 1936 Dodge pickup today.
