Howdy, I've been putting together my 2001 TJ over the past couple months, and yesterday I finally installed the jeep cables "big 7" kit. On the wire from the head to the firewall (where there's currently a flat braided strap), the cable end was too small to go over the large stud. SO I hit it with a rotary tool to make it larger and one thing led to another and I lost the large nut that holds these grounds on at the driver's rear corner of the valve cover. I'm having trouble finding a replacement one (it's gone. Forever. Looked from the top, the bottom, and with a lighted borescope), anyone know the thread on it? It may have been aftermarket, was an 18mm.

Also, check out the intake manifold bolt 😬 It ran OK when I got it, but I've ordered new bolts and gaskets for intake / exhaust mani, and valve cover gasket because it leaks oil and many nuts / bolts look loose and / or rusty. If anyone has a lead on a set of nuts / bolts for the valve cover (which I had trouble finding), would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I WILL get this TJ up to par soon, learning alot as I go as this is my first Jeep I've worked on. Doesn't help that my daily is a project too...

Go to ACE hardware and buy 4 that look like they will fit. It'll cost you one buck and you would have your answer long before someone here can tell you.

As I said my daily is a "project" too (stupid, I know), it's down so I'm stuck at home for the day . So I wanted to see if someone knew the thread pitch, and also where to get the valve cover hardware too so I can order it all online. I'm not buying multiple sets of all that! Lol

I can tell that’s coarse thread, but can’t tell if it’s 5/16 or 3/8. If you took a pic from above with a machine scale next to it that would help. Otherwise, it’s difficult to judge by pictures on the internet.

Walmart 1 hour delivery here we come.

There is a similar nut on the front that holds the bracket that secures the A/C lines if you have it, maybe you could borrow that one.

The parts list shows two double ended studs. One is just a plain old 1/4-20 (valve cover) but the other (head) one(s) is very strange- .437-14x6.00 on the top part. Mopar Parts Giant sells the larger (strange) one but not the nut! According to the diagram there should be 6 of them on the engine. I recall 1 in the rear for the grd strap and i for the AC lines and possibly one for the plastic heater hose bracket that just slides over the stud with no fastener. I seem to recall one or 2 that didn't hold anything like all the spares on the valve cover ones.

If tomorrow is not too late I'll go take a look at mine.
