Death Wobble

You need to stop throwing parts at it, especially parts from rough country and crown. Even though they are “new” they are not able to be eliminated as culprits as they are not known for their quality control.

If you insist on replacing control arms first, go with good ones. Moog factory replacements for a couple hundred bucks would be my bet.

I will say this, the Rough Country $129.00 adjustable track bar is a good deal and the ends are rebuildable with moog off the shelf parts when needed. @AndyG has the moog part numbers.

I replaced those parts cause the bushings were all worn and from the reviews ive seen they seem to hold up great. Im not planning on doing nothing too crazy with the build especially with my budget and the things i plan to do. Also looking for a set of adjustable control arms so i can move everything forward in the future

What control arms are you looking at?

I’d say if your planning on buying some rough country or equivalent, I’m pretty sure you’d be better off with some stock replacement arms, @Chris whats the general consensus on control arms at that size lift?

Even with a 2" suspension lift I'd want adjustable control arms personally. I say that because they will allow you to return the wheelbase and pinion angles to where they ought to be.

I always look at the transfer case drop as a band-aid. It works for the time being and I suppose if you never plan on going off-road at all, then it's just fine. However, for anyone who wants to use their TJ for off-road purposes (at least part of the time), you'll benefit tremendously from any and all ground clearance you can gain.

And @Nolan 05-TJ . At 2.5" I would stay on stock arms. I even played on a lot of rocks at that lift height with stock arms, and even though I bent one, the U-Channel design is very good and if you're going to cheap out and get any arms besides a JJ, you're basically taking a step backward while lightening your wallet and putting your stock mounts in danger if you do go offroad and start articulating where the arm is solid and doesn't flex and all the force is transferred to some bushing which puts your mounts in jeopardy.

Yea that totally makes sense I was just thinking sense the op said he is on a tight budget, that he’d be better off with stock arms then with cheap adjustable arms, I have skyjacker ones that I haven’t replaced yet put on by the P.O. and they need to be completely packed with grease after every wheeling trip.

The factory arms are better than any cheap arm you'll find from Rough Country, Rubicon Express, Skyjacker, etc.

Those arms use poor quality bushings and often times a bad design (i.e. the original TeraFlex arms that @Jerry Bransford always comments on).

So im looking at the core 4x4 arms they have a few tiers and american made but im not sure how much i would actually be adjusting them or if it would be worth it to go with the replacements.

well what problem are you trying to solve that adjustable control arms will solve, does it wander bad on the freeway, are you planning on stretching it, in the front you can only move it like 1-2 in forward before you run into a whole heep of issues. The core 4x4 ones seem pretty good but make sure you get at the very least one side with a Johnny joint, tier 2 has a welded Johnny joint which I believe it is not as strong as the forged Johnny joint, make sure if you do get them that you at least do tier 2, I believe they have a liftetime warranty which won’t get you home but it will get new parts to your door, but if you aren’t planning on doing much hardcore wheeling then I’d stick with the stock arms, also just fyi, there’s a group of us college kids in Boise called @c.wheelin.crew on Instagram, it’s mostly a bunch of Toyota guys but if you ever want a fun group to run with you can totally join us anytime

After the lift i got some driveline vibration and id like to bring the front forward with the arms just enough to fix my suspension angle and everything from the 2.5 lift. And when i do bring it forward what would i need to do driveline wise to make that work?
