CJ Wheels on TJ

I should also add that I would buy the canyons because they are 8" wide as opposed to the 7" wide eccos. It gives you more options if you want 31's, 32's or 33's.

The 8" wide wheel is definitely more desirable. The Canyon wheels are polished/clearcoated, FYI. Either way, the backspacing sucks for any tire wider that a 9.50" wide tire.

Silver wheels don't look bad at all on a green Jeep

I plan on only going as wide as 10.5"! Plus, you can't go wider with stock backspacing on those wheels.

Then you'll need the 15x8. You could use wheel spacers to widen stance and create a little more room in the wheel well if you desire.

I had 10.5" tires on my old Ecco's. they worked fine for me? Unless I missed something?

And good suggestion; however I am in no need of such extra space!

I was in the same boat as you trying to decide on a wheel for my TJ. I like the old school look and almost went with those factory YJ wheels you posted but ended up with this jeep wheel instead:

I was going to powdercoat em but I decided to do it myself and applied 7 coats of Rustoleum Professional paint. It is a very durable paint. Three cans, tarp, and a deck of cards later:

I can say I achieved the look I wanted:

The wheels are 15x6 with 1.25" wheel spacers and tires are the ones mentioned a couple pages ago: 31x10.5 Goodyear Authority.

When I originally saw your wheels I was tempted to go the route that you went - because they indeed look real good! Did you give them a good sanding or did you sandblast them first?

I like how Steel wheels look. But I like how light aluminum wheels are. You can never win! [emoji854]

Two of the wheels were refurbished and the other three were from a guy who worked in a Dodge dealership and took em home cuz they didn't have a fourth so there was no rust. I lightly sanded em and sprayed away. It's been three years now and they still look the same.

This is what I started with:

My combo is actually pretty light. I can lift em without much effort and I don't have arms like Chris. Part of that is due to the Authority tires which are lighter than most 31's I've used. I'm getting 18-19 mpg at 55 mph on drives to and from work.

The aluminum 16" wheels on my 4runner have 31.5" tires (same Authorities) on them and are MUCH heavier. It takes some grunting to get em on.

Interesting. I guess because they are 6" wide and seem to be thinner steel (compared to my d-ring steelies)?

Gosh you just complicated my decision even more. ;)

Yeah the D-rings are thicker. I had em on my XJ and they were a bit heavier with the same tire. I think they were Pro-Comp wheels.

Reviving this thread:

I just cannot decide and need other Jeep owner opinions.

I want my Jeep back with the factory look. However, of all the factory wheels that have been on the Cherokee and TJ, this is the only one that I like:

I found a set of 4 of these wheels for $100. So cost is on my side. However, are there maybe any wheels that I am missing from the factory Jeep lineup?

Or, would it be worth the extra money to get some alloy wheels (I have yet to find an alloy wheel that I actually like, although I know that they are lighter which means less fuel consumption and less wear on all of my steering components)?
I actually really like this look. What size tires are you running here?
