Check gauges—error code P1492

Hello everyone, my TJ 97 turns on the CHECK GAUGES light and stops the engine when it is running. It feels like the power or voltage is going down and when it's on in neutral it feels a bit weaker. A few days ago the scanner was done and it showed the error code P1492. As additional information, I changed the starter for a new one a week ago.

P1492 Possible Causes​

• Faulty Battery Temperature Sensor
• Battery Temperature Sensor harness is open or shorted
• Battery Temperature Sensor circuit poor electrical connection

First thing you need to do is check your battery terminals. If they look old, replace them. If they look dirty, clean them. Make sure they are snug as well.

After that, inspect the wiring harness throughly (this will take a lot of time) for damage.
