Actually, I did think of a worse material. You may recall some higher end cars like Broughams had padded vinyl tops. Nothing like adding a sponge to the mix so as to absorb and hold the moisture directly against the metal once the vinyl begins breaking down .

Now here's something you don't see every day, particularly not in the US...a 1973 Reliant Scimitar. The brand name doesn't exude confidence (thinking Robin here) but it's a funky/cool machine.

I just realized this is for sale in Frederick MD (once lived there), and the same guy had a sweet 914 for sale a while back. I thought he was a dealer, guess he just buys them, tweaks them, drives them and sells them on.

This is an interesting time in car world , the 914 had 80 gross h.p. and the VW 411 used the same engine and same 80 gross h.p. The 914 was mid engine and weighed 287 lbs. less than the 4 door , 4 place 411. One is a Targa top sports car the other is a family car. The standard crapfest Vega had 90 h.p. and weighed 197 lbs more than the 914 .

h.p. per lb. Vega base 24.23

Weird times indeed !
