Can’t remove front shock

In a bit of a pickle here. Trying to install some Rancho’s today. I have not gotten very far. Can not get the nut off the top of the front shocks. See photo, have tried vice grips etc. to stop the shock from spinning. Then took the bottom bolts out and have tried snapping the shock near the top ( I think I read this was one way to do it).

I’m at a loss. Any pointers?

Torch, Dremel or nut splitter.

Cut it off with one of these — right through the rubber bushing.

Bend the shock body back and forth at the top threads until they break.
