Does anyone know how the camshaft position sensor come out on a 2005 LJ?

I removed the one bolt, and I've been pulling on it with my hands and pliers and it won't budge.

Does it just pull straight out? Or twist? Or something else? I can't seem to find a YT video on actually getting the sensor itself out.

My engine has a lot of corrosion being from NH, so I'm guessing maybe somethings going on there.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

05/06 may be different. Those blocks are slightly different in a few ways from 97-04.

Mine does look different than that, mine is similar to this style.

Indeed yours is a pic of an 05/06.

Just the one bolt and it pulls out.

Mine was tight so soaked it a bit with WD 40 as it was all I had in the garage at the time. Also used a twisting motion to help free the sensor.

I took out the whole OPDA as I replaced it with a Crown unit that allows the shaft to properly stay lubed so that OPDA doesn’t seize up and destroy the camshaft and possibly the engine.

If f your OPDA is original you may look into replacing it.

Also,
You may need to sync the cam sensor with the crank sensor.
Best way is with a bidirectional scan tool .Or reset using the battery cable trick.
Do a search as there’s a ton of info on this.

I'm throwing in the towel here, I'll just have to bring it to my shop and have them do it. 3 rounds of PB Blaster and pulling on it with every tool I have and it won't budge. I think it's just too corroded for my skill / strength level.
