Question for the group.

I installed this kit, and while the quality of the kit itself is great, the phone bounces a ton while driving and I think I have traced it back to the stamped piece of steel that is part of the dash structure (see yellow circled area). There is a downturn flange on the ends but in the middle area where the center trim bezel attaches to its just a thin piece of steel so my question is, has anyone delt with this yet and what did you do to eliminate the flexing and ultimately stop the phone from bouncing?

My thought was to get a piece of 90 deg angled steel and trim to fit and bolt/screw it to the front edge of the existing metal.

Thx, Scott

I too got bulletproof mounts. I did not do the grid...i like my tray the way it is. I bolted mine to the corners and reinforced the corners with drywall fiberglass tape and 5 minute JB weld. And they still bounce.

Best solution is shorter arms.

Your idea might work...but I think I'd use aluminum or fiberglass and epoxy.

I should post an update to this video...one of my corners started ripping out during my drive from Oregon to The Rubicon Trail. While camping near the trail head I applied more epoxy.
