Black Magic Brakes Squeaking

I'm on a 2nd set of rotors, scuffed the BMB pads and I am in the middle of new (not re-man) calipers installation. The soft brake lines are 4 years old. The unit bearings are 8 months old. I will look at the wheel/hub mating surfaces and inspect the wheel studs. Time for new lugnuts?

It's only my passenger side. It starts above about 10mph and stops below that.

Just break them in enthusiastically please.

Do the sliders have any divots?

Lower inner. Although i had a spacer/guide on it, I have repaired it and will see once the calipers are on and rolling.

The funny thing is that sure didn't notice it the first few times that I inspected/cleaned/repaired the brakes. This last time though it looked very "fresh."

The caliper installs by setting the slots in the pads on the lower reaction bar and then rotating the caliper forward. If you can't do that, chances are the pads are upside down and need to be swapped side for side.

Gotcha thank you for the info

Is there supposed to be a gap here? The forks are on the bottom so I’m not sure why this is like this.

I also found that there was a ring around the center of the rotor- not where the brake pads contact, as well as the same place on my inner wheel and I get a rubbing sound while driving and I’m wondering if it could be that I have too much backspacing and it’s causing a rubbing? Or maybe I just need to break them in again?

That sounds like you have the late unit bearings and early rotors. They drug hard when you first put them on and then you wore them in. When there isn't much rust on the knuckles, they lock up hard and won't turn. Need to pop a rotor off and look at the lower part of the knuckle to see if that is where it is dragging.

Check if the rotor is dragging on the bottom of the knuckle?

What's this divot issue you guys are going on about? Where? How? Model year specific?

90-2006 XJ, YJ, TJ, maybe ZJ if they use the same knuckles too.

The pads ride directly on the knuckle without having replaceable shims in between. Over time the pads wear divots where they sit on the knuckle, and then pads get stuck in the divots.

The fix is a new knuckle (which will eventually get divots too) or welding in the divots and grinding them flat, which hardens the surface and will never have divots again.

You rock

Thanks

Don’t see anything dragging, just these. I also have dust shields and it’s not rubbing on there.
