Best 315/75R16 All-Terrain tire?

Lol I’m not gonna get into one of these Blaine offs with you...I know that what I have on my jeep is a tire that is supposed to be 34.4”. I am not even close to that. That’s all. That’s all I’m saying. Please don’t tell me to go F myself 😂

I'm confused. Do you not understand how weight and force works? Weight from big jeepy jeepy make tire go squishy squishy.

Jack the wheel up off the ground and measure. Or just measure from side to side. BFG can't account for the weight of vehicles on their tires considering how different each application can be.

I suspect the most accurate way would be to lay the tire/rim flat, inflated to the target pressure, and measure the circumference at the center of the tread. Then divide by pi and you have a more accurate measurement than estimating where the tread ends with a tape measure across the sides

I'm not sure why ya'll are struggling with the most basic of concepts?? A loaded tire on a vehicle does not, can not, and will not have the same measured diameter horizontally as it does vertically. What is it in your brain that doesn't allow that to sink in?

Ok so the same tire on the back of my Jeep should measure 34.4” theoretically correct?

Vertically. It's on a 17x8" wheel, which is the recommended size.

I guess I didn't know about loaded vs. unloaded. I just measured it at 33.25" and thought that came nowhere close to the claimed 34.4".

Guess I learned something new today!

The part you seem to be missing is that you are using the wrong Point A and the wrong Point B. One can't measure the diameter of tire mounted on a vehicle on the ground from the top of the tire to the ground and expect a meaningful result, much less an accurate one.

You do know that, don't you?

You should measure diameter horizontally and report the result. Or measure the circumference of a mounted and inflated tire, divide by Pi, and report that result. I will guarantee that the diameter will be greater than the 33" you claim when measured from top to bottom, and look forward to how you respond if your measurement comes even close to the 34.4" diameter published by BFG.

If you don't learn and understand how to measure a tire and come up with a rolling radius and double that to get the effective tire size, then there is no way to understand gear charts, speedometer correction, gear ratios and why what you see on the dash with regard to speed versus RPM do or don't match.

I once competed in what was the redneck precursor to KOH. A clear example of that was the tire size limit in our class. The fucktard officials actually let a guy on 40's air down until his tires measured 37" tall to get into our 35-37" tire class. Their position when I questioned them hard about it was that tires are not TRUE to sidewall numbers and therefore a field measurement was acceptable. I said, (paraphrasing) "that's fair but not vertically you fucking moron". I lost.

Exact size as what is mounted “loaded weight” on my jeep. My spare tire measures 33.5”. Spare tire is “unloaded weight” just wanted to make that clear.

Anyone have a 12.5 or 315 wide Goodyear MT/R or Duratrac on hand? If so, would you please measure the tread width? I need to make sure I can fit it within the fender flares to stay legal. Goodyear only posts the sidewall width, not the tread width
 
Anyone have a 35" load rate E tire they can measure the effective rolling radius at street pressure for me? How much less is that then the (listed mfg spec dia)/2?

I currently have a 2006 LJ with Cooper ST/MAXX in a 35 x 12.5 x 15, load rating C. Mfg spec shows dia = 34.45. I set the pressure at 23 psi for on-road, using the oh-so-accurate 'chalk line even wear off test'.

After about 1/2 tread depth loss and running at 23psi my rolling radius is 16".

I'm moving to a load rate E tire Cooper ST/MAXX 285 x 75 x 17, mfg spec says dia = 34.06. and wondering if I might see a rolling radius closer to 1/2 the mfg dia because of the stiffer tire. I don't know how much of the additional stiffness comes from the sidewalls and how much from the tread.

I am regearing to 4.88 and trying (with grimm jeeper calculator) to get an idea of my resulting rpms at highway speeds with the new tires.
