I don't like wasting money so I'll ask the people with experience. New to me 4.0 '99 TJ Sahara. Drivers rear wheel cylinder appears to be leaking. I'm going to do full brakes all the way around. Not lifted, 245 tires. I'm done with Amazon because I'm trying to keep my money here as much as possible. Is there a preferred brand? Any full kits? Tried searching. I'm either lazy or stupid. Sorry if this is a regular question.

Before you order any parts I'd pull the wheel and drum and make sure it's not an axle seal leaking gear oil. The two are often mistaken for each other because they both leak out of the same spot onto the back of the tire

Will definitely do that as well. But the brakes all around are just meh anyway. It's got 215k and I'm sure has been neglected, so I'm gonna flush and start anew. Eventually everything underneath will get renewed, but I'm starting here.

I used Centric parts all the way around. Purchased from Rock Auto.

Rears are pretty straightforward. Just be careful about the lines going into the wheel cylinders. One of mine had a bad fitting and I ended up buying an entire new hard line for somewhere around $50. If this happens to you, the other option could be to cut the flare and put a new fitting on and then reflare it. I don't have a flare tool so I just bought the line. Not a guarantee that this will happen to you, just be prepared for the possibility from a 21 year old vehicle

The fronts on a 99 are a different story. Jeep changed the wheel hub midway thru production of the 99's so you need to be sure to measure the ring on the hub so you pick the right rotors. If you are going to replace calipers, just buy re-manufactured ones. I was going to rebuild them and ended up buying crown pistons. The boxes were right but the pistons in the boxes were wrong. Was actually cheaper to just buy loaded calipers from Advance Auto with a lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the heads up about the fronts. I planned on replacing all the lines anyway. I learned a lot of lessons from a couple of XJ's while living in Michigan.

@oldb - Funny, haven't gotten the magnets in my last couple of orders. Have about 40 of them and always look forward to them. Hope they haven't quit sending them to cut costs.

@Herblorentz78 - make sure you download the service manual and parts guide from the site, will be a lifesaver when you are looking for Mopar parts. BTW- the rear line I bought was a Mopar OEM part.
