Battery replacement questions (is AGM always the way to go?)

I know 2 things to be true. AGM are the only thing I will run due to the non spillable nature which keeps acid away from stuff I tend to like. AGM are not the tiniest bit forgiving when it comes to being left to sit in a discharged state. If you miss that it ran down and sat for even 24 hours, you're likely going to need a new one. If you are one who needs to let a battery sit for a few weeks at a time, get a good maintainer on it.

In your experience how long is too long to have an AGM sit without a maintainer on it?

Does your Fridge have a low voltage cutoff? My Dometic has it built in.

Yes it does,it did shut the fridge off,but we left town for almost a month (fridge not on)and I forget to plug it in . And keep Wes dead when we got home.i thought there might be another type of low voltage shutoff for when we forget to plug in the shumaker.

Mine is hooked to a maintainer whenever it isn't being driven.

Edit: Using this and the second pic is where I plug it in.

My jeep sits a month at a time frequently with no issues. It's also handles a high watt, big kicker bass, multi amp sound system like a champ !

Just to clarify… when I say I’m looking for a maintainer that will operate in cold weather I’m talking at least -25°C/-13°F.
I’d prefer to have something that could handle a little colder than that yet.

I'm sure there are a lot of good maintainers out there but IMO one of the best is a Victron Blue Smart. They make both the IP65 and the IP67, IP67 is onboard mounted and IP65 is portable. They make them in ranges from as low as 5 amps up to I believe 20 amps. Fully user configurable and Bluetooth to look at history, trends and to customize charge profiles to fit any battery type. 5 modes, bulk/absorption/float/storage and recondition. In storage it will stop charging when the battery is fully charged then as voltage drops it will kick back in as needed.

I'm using 2 IP65s that I plug into extensions at the front bumper. On the Jeep I got the NOCO for it's small footprint, plus the Jeep sits outside so I wanted something permanently mounted.

Mine's sits (in a garage) for 2-3 weeks several times a year, and occasionally longer with no battery tender.
Always starts, even in the winter.
IMO, if it doesn't start, even after several weeks undriven, you have other issues.

Lots of great responses guys, thanks! Thinking I’m going to go AGM and if it sits for more than 2 weeks (or do you guys think that’s too long?) without being driven then I’ll throw a maintainer on it until it is driven.

Okay I was looking at the NOCO but not functioning in cold weather was a concern I had as, like I said, my TJ sits outside year round.
Anyone know of a maintainer that won’t have a problem in the cold?

CTEK is a good option, they have a cold weather charging option. They also have a dedicated cold weather charger for extreme cold temps, like areas that see -50 on a routine basis.

Currently have my CTEK charger for the tractor, and both Jeeps use a dedicated on board Victron charger. They have portable ones also. I like victron components, great quality, and they have a bluetooth app that connects to your phone so you can see charge cycles, voltage, etc.. They have a whole slue of stuff I use for the "house' system to monitor usage, remaining battery life in percent format, total ah used over a specified period of time, etc... but that's way excessive for just a maintainer.

Yup came across the CTEK MUS 4.3 Polar. Rated down to -30°C, little spendier than what I’d like but might be the best bet for what I’m looking for.
