yeah the newer Baofeng's won't allow Tx on GMRS - I have a "pre-ban" version with gmrs freqs programmed in that I picked up when the news broke "just in case"
My Midland 275 is mounted just forward of the transmission shifter with a RJ45 jack on the side for the mic.
You can break the new ones so you can program. I have some pre and post and struggled at first then found that they can be broken. Cant remember the procedure but it is pretty simple.
To unlock the newer Baogeng radios...
With the radio off, push and hold PTT, Moni, and vfo buttons at the same time. While holding them, turn the radio on.
The display should say "factory"
It is now unlocked.
