When I recently had my TJ's alignment done I was advised that the ball joints are all pretty much shot - I can feel a distinct play in the steering on very low speed, almost like a clunking in the steering wheel - I assume this to be it?

I'm based in South Africa and it's not that easy to just get a ball joint kit - only place that will realistically ship to SA is amazon so I'm at the mercy of what I can find there - I've found this kit, but I'm not sure if this would have all the parts needed to refresh the ball joints.

AMAZON
  • 1x Steering Drag Link Adjusting Sleeve # ES2079S, 52037536AB
  • 2x Front Stabilizer Bar Link Kit # K3197, 5208771AB
  • 2x Front Upper Ball Joint # K3134T
  • 1x At Pitman Arm Tie Rod End # ES3096L
  • 2x Front Lower Ball Joint # K3161T
  • 1x Front Track Bar # DS1235
Any advice on what possible kit from amazon would be appreciated.

Thanks lads

Beware of differing regional vernacular, in America we mainly use "ball joint" to refer to the 2 attaching each knuckle to the inner C but I cant rule out that a mechanic in Johannesburg might use the same term for the 4 tie rod ends as well, which may explain their inclusion in the OPs list.

True....but I would be very skeptical of that kit @ $94 for everything. The reference numbers included are for some Moog parts but I'm willing to bet those are just cross reference numbers and it's not what you actually get in the kit.

That's the one to get, you need two kits. The included brass part is not used on the TJ.

You found the magic magnetic brass!!!

Which now ends the near endless string of me explaining that they are not brass, never have been brass and while gold zinc plating to slow down rust does resemble brass if you squint a bit, common sense says that brass is not strong enough to work as a tapered pin seat to support the front end of the rig. Now all I have to do is put up a single picture.
