Backspacing for TJ on 37s

That is a mistake and the benefit of offroad type swaybars can not be overstated.

I'm sorry.

If you have to remove steering angle to run C gussets, something is wrong. Not sure what the caliper thing is about unless the gussets are so big the caliper hits them which is again, a mistake.

You should invest in some knowledge about shocks and tuning them instead of blaming the lack of good discussions as to why you don't like it here. You don't want discussion, you want us to tell you how awesome your silliness is. The 37's will be a minor improvement for some things, they will not be an overall improvement due to the loss of effective wheelbase.

And before you get all snippy, you opened this door, not me.

Yeah I mean I still have more than enough steering angle because these things are like shopPing carts so I’m not concerned about that. I do apreciate people trying to tell me 37s is the wrong choice BUT there are a million other threads with exactly that. I was trying to use this thread for ONLY backspacing questions that was why I prefaced. I also do not drive my jeep on the streets so sway bars really isn’t needed while I’m rock crawling.

Aside from finding someone else with the exact same build as you (4.5” lift, long arm geometry, 1.5” front stretch, 3/16” extra steering stop, 4.5” backspacing) except 37” tires, Blaine had already answered your question. Cycle your front suspension and see if you have an extra inch at full lock. Seems much easier than finding the owner of your build’s doppleganger to confirm for you.

I don’t think it’s that deep. If I had 10 people say this is my back spacing and either u rub or don’t rub regardless of their setup it would be close enough to make a judgement call.

You don’t think a front axle stretch and steering stop extension are very significant variables in this scenario?

Realistically both have given me more tire clearence. Steering yes may not be the case but that is not in the way.

4" lift, 12" travel shocks, mid arm geometry, ~1.5" front stretch, relocated upper front spring seats, no extra steering stop, 4" back spacing, except 35x12.5 tires. The tires rub the control arms a bit at full lock. And the tires rub the top of the upper spring seats a bit at full articulation.

I can imagine what a taller tire and/or a change in backspacing would do.

You should disconnect your front sway bar, JJ, it's limiting your travel...

😉

Thank you! All I’m looking for!

Should be ok,but those POCKET flairs are actually lower than the stockers ,they might rub.

Awesome thank you! Looks like the 3.5” backspacing is what I’m looking for and I’ve got tube fenders now that I’ve raised slightly in the front for clearence.

I run 3.5" BS wheels and I have rub marks on my control arms while running 35's. Never notice it while wheeling but they do rub.
