I am looking at smallish 36" wide ATV toolboxes to put behind the front seats in my TJ in order to keep more of my stuff out of sight.

Which one do you have? What are you liking and not liking about it?

At the moment, this is the one I am considering...

@jjvw - this box I have is perfect (it's only 32" wide). I got the b idea from @MountaineerTom. See my thread in the Gear area, I linked his photos there. It holds quite a bit! The only thing I did not like about it was the cost but I had some prime rewards points so I did not mind. It's all Aluminium and only 17lb and after I saw it in person I was happy that I bought it.

UWS EC20012 32-Inch Gloss Black Heavy-Wall Aluminum ATV Storage Box, RigidCore Lid https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077BXS2JS/?tag=wranglerorg-20

The box is sitting on 4 hockey pucks and just barely clears the seat rails. I have it bolted down to the seat rails, see photo below.

I removed the latch/lock that came with it and installed a Bolt one (link below). The bolt latch "learns" your Jeep key. This way you don't have to carry an extra key.

Also, as a bonus for me, the recovery boards I bought a while ago for behind it just about perfect with a bungee cords around the handles. I'm really happy with this box.

My back seat hasn't been used in years. I'm very tempted to pull the brackets (and belts) out, which would allow for a wider 36" box.

Is that keyed to match the ignition key?

Is that a feature your box came with?

No :)

The box came with typical toolbox keys. I bought a replacement latch made by Bolt (see the link in my original reply). I drilled out the latch/lock the box came with and installed the Bolt one. The Bolt one "learns" your ignition key the first time you use it and is permanently set to open with that key. I use a similar one for my bike rack hitch pin.

I have a contractor tool box from lowes. Brought two L shaped brackets and bolted to the existing seat belt location. 2 straps to hold the rear down to the roll bar. I could fab up another two L brackets and bolt it to the tub but this works and I can remove it easily.

What cargo mat are you using? Been looking for one that's full coverage in the rear ..

(Slightly off topic)

I've switched to using too bags like we had in the hanger. They store easy under the drivers seat and are a lot quieter. Plus having different tool types in different bags makes it easy to bring the right tools to where they are needed instead of having to go and reach back through the tub to get a different size wrench.

I'm using multiple smaller bags right now. But with the Jeep being a daily driver, i want a way to secure these bags without having to always unload them when not in use for the day.

I'm pretty sure thats the cleanest TJ carpet I've ever seen. Is it aftermarket?

I pulled seat, brackets and belts out shortly after purchase. The bracket mounting points are a great way to attach storage solutions. Currently I have this wooden platform attached to the seat mount locations with aluminum L brackets:

Before that I had this box bolted in. Not sure which I like better.
