ARB TJ

I have an lj I setup with Arb stuff and nth degree tummy tuck and skids in them late 2000,s. I like it but boy it’s heavy. The original Arb rear tire carrier, it’s a monster, I think mine weights in over 4500 with gas in it

With my V-8, Nth Degree TT, steel bumpers & armor plus Dana 60 & Dana 44 and HEAVY TSL tires & steel rims my TJ is right around 5K.

They use to bring that TJ to the PNW4WDA Trail Jamboree and I went on a few trails with them. One of the guys from ARB use to teach a really good Jeepin 101 class also. Lots of basic stuff but even for those with years are experiance could get something out of his class.

Interesting note. I ran across the ARB TJ for sale couple years back. It was set up, just like in the video with a few changes. Unfortunately, the ARB TJ never made it to Australia because it couldn’t pass the Australian regulation standards. It became a shop vehicle and was carried around to Jeep related events. later the jeep was sold into private sales. Here are a few pictures from when it was for sale….

Any idea what the suspension set up is on this?

Day Star 1.25 body and motor mount lift.
Old Man EMU 2.5” lift with shocks heavy load springs.
MORE Steering Riser bracket 1”.
33” Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ.
G2 Dana 44 axles with ARB lockers Front & Rear 4.56 ratio.
Currie CurrectLync Steering.

Hope that helps. 👍🏻😀

Nice! It does thank you. I’m surprised that it has a body lift. Usually I can tell because the you can see the gap between the body and the bumpers which I do not like. Are you sure about that?

Its very tough to notice a 1.25" body lift. Its a very good modification for our Jeeps, in that it allows you to move things up relative to the frame and improve clearance and breakover (like the center skid and Fuel Tank Skid)

Good to know. Mine is lifted right now. I bought it like that and have no clue what exactly was done and what was used. Honestly I’m looking to get the best ride quality I can out of a lift. I just ordered the ARB bumpers and sliders. Next will be to get the suspension sorted out. Appreciate the info sir.

Set it up properly. Ride quality is more about proper setup than the parts you use. Exception to that is shocks. Good shocks aren’t cheap and cheap shocks aren’t good.

You can make it ride pretty damn good though, by making sure your shocks and suspension are centered in their travel at ride height. Don’t run anything over 30 psi in your tires either.

Any recommendations? Do you think this set up is good or maybe go with something else? There’s so much out there I thought this rigs set up might be a good place to start.

Decide on your final tire size and build around that. As far as body lifts, I’d stick with aluminum rather than poly.

For body lift, below is one of the best options out there, designed by someone that fully understands the nuances of the TJ platform.

Other suspension stuff, you have to do some reading and learn a bit. As was mentioned above, finalize a tire size first because that sets the stage for every choice that you'll make.

Well I just replaced what was on it with same size 33x12.5/15 but now kinda wish I would have just went for it and did 35’s. I need tires desperately. I was worried they might rub and gearing might be an issue. But honestly I think they would have fit and my gearing may have been changed already. 😒
