Anybody up for a random meme dump?

Sounds like an idiot to me. My previous job was for a company that did IT contracting for a lot of municipalities around New England. The last one I worked in was down by the shore in CT and I got talking to one of the police officers. He told me there had been a lot of car thefts in that town, gangs would drop off minors in neighborhoods to steal cars knowing the police wouldn't engage in a car chase with a minor. He said the kids being dropped off always found cars to steal. One guy in town had his car stolen and then recovered 3 different times because you guessed it, he left the car unlocked with the keys in it.

Also, from being an insurance adjuster in a previous life... many polices have a fine print statement saying they won't cover theft if you "give" the keys to the driver. Keeping the keys in an unlocked car falls under that category in their mind.

yeah an idiot, nice guy but doesn't care or think....If it got stolen he would have another one the next day.

I used to warm my car up on the driveway before work, and one day I thought it had gotten stolen. I couldn't hear it idling out there anymore. I ran outside to see and it turns out the E-brake decided not to work anymore and it rolled out into the street

It's easy to fix, you just gotta have the famous Chrysler ignition that keys can come out of. That's why I don't worry about leaving my truck running outside anymore. I can lock it and not worry😉🤣🤣

Funny enough I did actually learn I could do that with that vehicle when I lost the key while driving it (it was on the floor). Then I started starting it and taking the key and locking it lol

Even better fix... remote start!!! Never have to leave the comfort of a warm living room until the cab is already warmed up!!!

Most states actually have laws on the books about leaving keys in side vehicles. It's considered enticing a crime and people can actually be fined or charged with a misdemeanor. Some states wont stop there either. If your car is stolen and you left the keys in it you can face significant legal and financial liability for any crimes or damages resulting from the theft.

As a kid I never needed a house key as the door was never locked. My first car was an 85 ford ranger that I bought for $850. I left the keys in the ignition all the time. I had trouble breaking that habit when I decided I should lock the doors, so I locked the keys in quite a bit. I left a wire coat hanger in the bed and could unlock it almost as quickly as with a key.

That would've costed as much as that vehicle was worth! I do miss having it though, but I probably won't pay for it

Not gonna lie, it wasn't cheap, but it sure beats getting off work and taking a half hour bus ride to get to my Jeep and then have to warm it up so I can then drive home. I opted for the full meal deal with my remote starter and added a LTE module to it so I can start it any where there is cellular service as long as I have access to wifi or cellular with my phone.

All in, it was a little shy of a grand installed after taxes with lifetime wiring warranty.

In high school a friend had a Ford Ranger like that. It was all fun and games until he went on a trip 2 hours from his house and reached down to shut it off and realized the keys weren't there. :ROFLMAO:

Luckily they were in his backpack in the back seat, but that would've sucked lol.

For at least $300, I would rather just walk the 50 or so feet to my truck lol

Yea, but that doesn't fit the Luxury and effete American automobile market. Gotta spend that money - what's $300 after you spent $1,200 on a PHOOOOOONNE? Americans have been trained - the more it costs, the more essential it is. Gotta have that conVEEEEEEEENience, cost be damned!
