Since @98% of all vehicles don't come with manual transmission any more it's not going to make much of a difference. The skill will die out due to lack of gear jammers.
I'd bet that more than half the kids born today won't even learn to drive and get a license.
People just don't know how to cope. I had a run-away problem with the MBZ once - my mechanic failed to replace all the cir-clips in the throttle linkage when he had it apart. I had plenty of options - put it in neutral, apply the brakes, turn off the key. I got it off the road safely and had it towed - but my mechanic was flabberghasted that I "knew what to do". This makes no sense - its fucking common sense.
Just taught my daughter and wife that trick a few days ago.

I actually disconnected that " hill holder " on our POS 05 Forester . Subi had a valve that was cable operated from the clutch pedal to the MC . The problem was you had to drag the clutch kinda hard on every takeoff , I can drive so I didn't need the premature clutch wear.

Wife was unaccompanied in Italy for about 2 months and almost all the cars are stick.
I rode with her a few times and saw yearly clutch replacement in my future.
So, we got her an automatic, US spec Mini Cooper and I took the island beater (renault clio)
The brakes on her cooper are just about shot so she's driving the Renault while I'm back in the states for a few weeks.
I think I'm gonna have to fix TWO vehicles when I get back!
When we import them - they improve our country...

At one time in the evolution of mankind a person would have got out of the vehicle and stopped the cart from hitting their vehicle instead of videoing it for many minutes until it hit the vehicle.
