Yep,I did the off-road only magnetic kill switch,but if they want it bad enough,they will get it.

What kind of switch did you use?

Time is the enemy of any thief. One of the best things you can do is make someone else would be a better target.

The other day I had to leave my trailer out front for a couple days.

So I installed a lock on the hitch. And chained 2 tires.....any one is a quick cut but with 3 different things it makes people think of bob down the street that only has 1

While I have no doubt that someone who wanted my trailer was going to steal it. It does stop the guy who was not prepared.

The same goes for my jeep. I always use a club. It won't stop someone who is planning for it. But it will stop the guy who only has a screw driver.

I like your wheel chains. Regarding your hitch though, thieves (I'm told) will wrap a chain through the openings in the frame and drag the trailer away to a place where they can cut the coupler lock off in peace and quiet.

I have a telescopic hitch on one of my trailers. I can adjust the tongue length for different driving conditions. I also remove it when the trailer is left on it's own. I plan to weld plates to the frame to fill in the openings. Nothing is fool proof but some things do help.

Not the best picture but you can see how the adjustable tongue is pinned in place. The 2 triangular openings will be covered with steel plate to lessen the chance of it being "chained" away ... I hope.

Many's the nights I have laid in bed worrying about my covered TJ sitting out in the driveway and tried to come up with something really tough to get through. Usually it's hardened chains through my wheels but I haven't done that yet. Especially since they wouldn't prevent it from being dragged out backward by another flatbed tow truck's winch. My only saving grace is that I'm on a cul-de-sac on a cul-de-sac so I'm thinking the casual thief isn't likely to just drive by randomly or even figure out how to get up to where I live.

Sorta like what I was thinking. What about one of those boots the meter maids put on? Not practical away from home but maybe for overnight?

Maybe a better version of one of these would work. I doubt something under $100 would put up a good enough fight. But maybe?

Other than taking the wheels off there is this. Quick Disconnect Steering Wheel. There are cheaper options other than GR. I'm thinking of getting this for My Rig.

Defeated with a good set of vice grips. Clamp on, use them to steer. Also, the easiest way to steel one of these is to break the steering lock and then just put the transfer case in neutral and push it down the street. Then they have time to get it on a trailer or get it started.

can't find what he's got ........nothing comes up when you pick our yr off any menu. the only # i can make out in the video is srk-250r and that search yields no results. nothing i need right now but the steering linkage changes if 1 employs a hydro system, maybe then.

i did the same thing to my dash vents, removing a portion of them to get the A tubes in so i might steal that heat tape wrap idea to get them working again.

Might have to call that manufacturer to see what they recommend I’ve not dug into it.

Hydro shouldn’t change anything with the steering inside the tub.

no, but my projected path may allow me to strip things down to just the essentials and the big dash and bulky column may not be part of the finished product.
