So my TJ is a pleasure to drive. I realized if when turning off the ignition, I do not hear a series of beep beep beep’s 3times, that my ignition is not really disconnected. And the next day or two if I dont drive it I have a dead battery. I replaced the ignition SWITCH, and the connector pin assembly, but. It the key cylinder. Sometimes I get the beeps and some times not. I went on vacation and kept turning the key on/ off until I got the 3 series of beeps and two weeks later it fired right up. But I f I turn it off and dont get the beeps- 2 days max and I have a dead battery. I have tried 3 diff keys- could it be the key cylinder?

The fact that you're not consistently getting the beeps when turning off the ignition suggests that there might be a problem with the key cylinder or the ignition system itself. Since you’ve already replaced the ignition switch and the connector pin assembly, here are a few things you could try:

Inspect the Key Cylinder: If the key cylinder is worn or has internal issues, it might not be fully engaging when you turn the key off. This could cause electrical components to stay powered on. Consider replacing the key cylinder if you suspect it’s the culprit.

Check Wiring and Ground Connections: Sometimes the issue can stem from poor wiring or ground connections. Make sure there are no damaged wires or loose ground connections related to the ignition system.

Look for Parasitic Draw: If you’re still having issues, there could be another component in the system that’s drawing power when the ignition is off. You can test for parasitic draw with a multimeter by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and measuring current flow between the terminal and the battery. If it’s higher than 50 milliamps, you may have a parasitic drain from another source.

Relay or Fuse Issues: Check the ignition system relays and fuses to ensure they’re operating correctly. A faulty relay could also cause strange electrical behaviors.

Keep us posted on what you find!

I see in your profile you have a 2003. Is this a thing with the '03s?

Mine beeps when I turn the ignition ON, but when turning the ignition OFF, it just turns everything OFF without making any sound.

The key cylinders suck. Mine is so easy to turn past the point to remove the key I have to rotate it forward after I shut it off because it just goes right on by. My radio will still be on and that is my beeper. I don't worry because I disconnect the battery because it rarely gets driven with long periods of resting in-between.
