As I said in another thread, I've never had a subwoofer, and have never felt the need for one...

Until I played this today:

AKA "Toccata & Fugue in D minor" for pipe organ by Bach.

Although it sounds wonderful to my ear, if there was ever a piece of music that could use more bass, this is it! So I'm kicking around the idea of a small amplified subwoofer to tuck under the passenger seat. Looks like this one might fit:

I'm sure there are others. For reference, this head unit puts out 45W x 4 into 5-1/4" Kickers in the dash, and 6 inch Jensens in the overhead.

I know that piece well, Pandora knows it's one of my favorites and plays it just a tad too often lol. I'm not so many subwoofers suitable for a TJ could do it justice, although nearly any subwoofer would be substantially better than the usual non-subwoofer speakers.

This inexpensive under seat model would be tempting to me... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08S92M59C/?tag=wranglerorg-20

My PO put a nice amp with a kicker in the trunk, he replaced the sound bar speakersas well. I had issues with the sub for a while and boy did I miss it not being there. I don’t like to “bump” but it sure does add to music to have some bass! Good luck with the sub, it’s Amazon so if it doesn't sound good you can just return it ha!

I've found that Metallic (prior to the 'Black' album is another example of good test for your sub. I was really surprised how well Jerry's set up for the stock subwoofer upgrade works in the Jeep. Bigger will always be better (assuming same quality) as far as speakers go. But with the limited room in a TJ, and the many other sounds made as I drive, that's more than acceptable low end for 99% of us.

Lovely indeed. Looking at the one listed in your post, i bet this could be made to fit under the dash, right above the transmission tunnel. Whichever unit you choose, it needs to be fitted very securely in order to sound well.

Just seeing this thread and was hoping for an update too. I was trying to place Hans Zimmer and ... well, thats why I'm here. 5.25" Polk DB521's in the front and 6.5" DB652's in the pods above my head. I went with a JVC KD-SX27BT (although considering getting a different head unit because my dumbass didnt realize it wasn't USB compatible with the iPhone (only Bluetooth)) I was so focused on marine rated and never make purchases when tired. I row on lake Washington and wanted to be careful. I don't want anything to scream "Steal from me!" while parked at the boat launch (I row crew).

I am very open to buying a slim amplified and slim subwoofer. I love loud music (mostly composed soundtrack scores) so this would be a gift to myself. If anyone has any suggestions super open.

My '04 came without a subwoofer, I just installed Sound Ordnance b-8ptd from Crutchfield inside center console where the factory sub would have been. Fit perfect and decent bass sound for the price point. If you go this route make sure you play around with the settings to dial it in for the sound you want before putting the center console on as you won't be able to reach it after. I put down some self adhesive neoprene pads on the spot the subwoofer would sit, doesn't bounce around or make any rattle noise when driving.
