I am putting A/C into my 5.3 swap. Novak wiring harness has two wires that need 12v when A/C is on and they suggest having independent sources. One is obviously the compressor clutch signal but I'm not sure where to pull the second signal from, seems like the blower might be the only other place but there are resistors along the way so I'm unsure of a solid 12v signal to tap into. Any thoughts?

I figured this out, I was reading the instructions incorrectly. The novak harness needs a 12v signal and the other wire supplies the 12v signal to the compressor.

Yes, it’s there now, I’ll post a video when I get it back. Should be done middle of this week.
I live in Brenham and am a few weeks away from that step in the process. Maybe I can get their name from you if you like their work. I hope to get it on the road next week. It has been a process.

I kept the A/C wires and separated them when I did my swap. As I remember, the 12v has to go through the high press and low press sensor, then to the compressor. I am interested on knowing the process of how to convert over the A/C lines and which condenser/compressor setup. Look forward to seeing how this all works.

I was wondering if you got the A/C completed and workin satisfactorily in this heat. If so, pis would be great.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO ALL!

Almost. I have the Jeep back with new lines and new drier and it’s charged. I hooked up the wiring on Friday and I think the system is low so I need to take back to shop on Monday. I did have cool air coming out but then the compressor eventually gives up. I’ll post next week when it’s good to go.

Thanks for the update. Looking forward to hearing all is good and seeing the photos.

A/c is in and wiring is ugly but done, I'll clean it all up later. There were a few issues along the way with the wiring as the jeep pcm was doing funky things but I sorted it all out. Cold air blowing out of the jeep when I turn on the a/c! I'll post a video shortly of the a/c system.

That's great. Anxious to see how it all came out.

I just put the top and doors back on since it's 100 in Houston, the cold A/C is very necessary! I'm waiting on a high pressure switch harness (mine was buggered up) and then I'll post the finished video.

The quote below is from the Novak "Wiring and Powertrain.pdf"

A/C Wiring
The light green wire needs to be a 12V+ power source from the Jeep dash A/C control switch.
The light green with a black stripe goes through the pressure sensors and then to the compressor. This is wired in a series, into the first one, back out, through the next sensor and then to the compressor. The other wire on the compressor needs to be grounded. This should all be done with the factory
Jeep sensors and pig tails from the old Jeep harness. The pig tail for the GM compressor is supplied with the harness.

What I was planning on doing was splicing the Novak green wire to to the DB/OR wire on pin 22 on C3 for the wire from the A/C control switch. The wire on Pin 22 has 12V+ when the ignition switch is in the ON position and the A/C control switch is in the appropriate positions. (Thanks goodness for the Power Probe tool )

I was then going to run the light green with a black stripe wire as described in the Novak text as mentioned above.

Do you think this would work as well?

It all looks great and thanks for posting the video. I am absolutely no good at that stuff.

I am going to try my hand at making the hoses if I can source all the parts. We'll see.
