97 TJ vs later models

Ironically, we would be better off if the search were disabled for new members. Just force them into starting a new thread.

Wait...you mean newbies actually use any of the search functions? Instead of asking questions that were asked and answered a few zillion times?

Or even scroll down a few posts...

For my money, if I HAD to pick between two evils, I'd rather see the same question asked again than bumping a 4 year old thread to ask "did you ever get this fixed" where OP has single digit posts and likely since died of the rona (likely waiting for a reply from 12VoltGuy).

Love mine, and no, haven't had any trouble getting parts. Solid jeep and runs like a champ!

97-98 ac controls are the only part I've run into that is hard to get. Though the later style hvac can be adapted.(yes i know this is a 4 year old thread)

You got a link to a writeup? I heard this was extremely difficult as the vacuum plugs aren't even the same.

Do a search on here, there was a thread about doing the swap. It isn't for the faint of heart...

Anybody know where I can get a PCM ?  🤪

Be nice to the newbies...

Aha! I seen this before and to be honest, I completely glossed over it cause it seemed involved with harness splicing. Wondering if I should just cab swap to a 2005 with everything already in it.

That sounds like a LOT more work IMO... But that also depends on the current shape of your tub & if you can get a 1999 or newer tub for cheap that has everything in it too.

I already have a 05 cab/cage that is in better condition than mines, but my 97 isn't that bad, just the usual rust in body mount, rusted cage mounts (new cage already in). I would have to spray line it though. However, the airbags are blown, and I haven't been able to source new ones cause the 05 module is different. 80k miles only on it.

I would keep the drivetrain and re-splice the wires i did for my LS swap. ;) Its only a handful as I'm running both GM and Jeep ECU.
