Hi all,

Got the first heavy rain today since picking up my new and first Wrangler (2006 sport). Walked out of work to find that there was a leak, which seemed to be coming from the top corner of the passenger side door closest to the hood. I have some pics attached here that show where it was coming from.

Does anyone have any suggestions to stop the leak? I’m not quite sure what the seals/weather stripping are supposed to look like, since this is my first wrangler, but as far as I can tell everything surrounding the source of the leak is in great shape (no dry rot or cracking rubber seals or anything like that)

I do plan to move to a soft top at some point, so any cost effective ways to hold the leak at bay in the meantime?

Thanks!

Here’s some more context now that it isn’t raining. This is the difference between the passenger and drivers side seals where I suspect the leak is coming from. The passenger side (leaking) is the one that looks folded. Anyone seen this before?

Wow, not surprised it's leaking. How is the glass supposed to seal against that? Make it look like the drivers' side.

True that. It’s pretty wedged in there, between the windshield header seal? and the body. I’m not sure what the piece it’s stuck behind is. I could theoretically do a little surgery and cut it so it lays flat, but I have to figure out how to get it out from being wedged under there. Once it pops out of there it looks like it should lay flat again

Don't cut anything till you figure out what it's suppose to look like.
IMO, it looks like the whole top needs moved forward.
Especially on the passenger side.
You'll have to loosen all the mounting bolts and front clamps.
What do your door gaps look like?

After playing with it for some time I tend to agree that the top needs to come off, if nothing else to get that piece unwedged from wherever it’s wedged in. Cant get it out fiddling it around. I’m not sure about moving the whole top forward, is that possible? I figured it just sits where it’s supposed to sit but I can definitely give that a go.

I’m not sure what the door gaps are supposed to look like to be honest, but I can take some pics and post them here. They appear to be normal to my untrained eye

I also saw your thread that indicated the top wasn't factory installed.
The top won't move much if it still has the plastic locators.
However, the window frame can be adjusted a little also.

As far as I know it’s a factory top. Is there anything that would suggest otherwise?

Unlatch from the header, loosen all 6 of the bolts in the rear, re-latch at front, and see if that closes up the gap, then tighten the 6 bolts.

here's how mine looks:

Comparing the lines of your top to mine, yours does not appear to be oem. Can you take a side profile picture that includes the whole top?

edit — I just found it. This is not a factory top.

These are the only 2 pictures that sorta show the top right now. Jeep is really brand new to me only had it a couple days. Not sure if u can tell by these pictures

Definitely not a factory top. See the rise in profile between the windshield and b-pillar? OEM tops do not have that profile. Plus, the moulding around the rear window, the hard crease before the rear window, etc.

Interesting, ok. Wonder what brand it is, I’ll have to do some searching for a logo. Pretty nice quality, wish I was knowledgeable enough to know that when I was buying it! Not that it woulda made much of a difference to me
