I picked up my 1st Jeep about a month ago.2003 Hard Top 4.0 5spd. it has the rear wiper and defrost switches, but for the life of me i cannot find the harness to plug into the top.? any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it hasn't been removed, the harness is located on the driver side tub. It should be tucked up inside near the side windows.

That is where i assumed it would be. Mine only has a wire bundle that travels under the side windows and then goes down through a grommet at the back corner of the tub. I assume those are the for the taillights.

It seems that i might have some warmer weather headed my way, so I'll do some more digging. I appreciate your reply.

It's usually part of that harness but I'll have to check.

I don't believe all TJ's came prewired for hardtops. I've got an '05 Unlimited that wasn't.

There was a factory kit to add the wiring and plumbing but they're like hen's teeth nowadays. There are some threads here that cover creating your own harness.

My 06 LJ has the wires, but no switches. I've added them, I don't know why, because I have never used them. Not much use in FL and rarely sees rain.

OP says that he has the switches though. Can't imagine that Jeep would put the switches in and not the wiring harness.

It is possible someone added the switches thinking that was all that was needed and discovered they didn't do enough research.

Sounds like this was built with no hard top

@Klosewire - pull a build sheet and see if it came with a hardtop.

This is what you are looking for.
The hardtop harness includes a 6-pin connector and a washer hose.
They come out of the rear light harness right before it goes through the grommet.
This is the factory harness on our 2003.
