A couple of questions, if anyone can shed any light -

1) Can anyone compare the picture further below of the charcoal canister with their 1999 2.5L? The FSM says there should be a leak detection pump / vent valve by it, but all I see is the purge valve. Wondering if I'm somehow missing something (although it would probably throw a code if I was?) Maybe the pump is only on California cars, the FSM does say it is only on certain emissions systems.

2) Once in a while I get a whiff of gas fumes in the cab. This has been going on for a year, since I have owned this TJ (my first). I don't see any leaks by the injectors or the rubber fuel line going to the fuel rail, or the rail connection. I've watched it while running and don't see any leaks at those points. I just had the gas tank out and didn't get any whiffs there (replaced a very rusty skid plate), nor was there any staining. Any recommendations as to what I should check? No codes...

Any help would be appreciated.

This is all looking the same as my 2.5 setup. I retrofitted it to the Magnum intake, but otherwise left it as is.

Check the steel evap tube that runs with the fuel line back to the tank, mine had rotted near the rear upper control arm. Maybe you've got a pin hole in that?
