02 modified TJ, I don’t know where its going rebuild

He wants it stripped of weight, pull axles and brake assemblies off tomorrow. As well as the driver long arm, to evaluate what need to be replaced and get parts on order. Then shocks, drop skid, drop exhaust, and remove the other side long arm, A-frame truss. My other buddy gave a tyranny jack today. Get-er-done! That is a factory Super Dana 35, I don’t believe any after market 30spl axle kits have abs speed wheels on them.

There was never a Super 35 offered. They are all aftermarket kits. Have you searched to see if there was 30 spline shaft offered before?

Are you wanting ABS again? Most people disable it or remove it on the TJ.

No, I don’t, the ABS is disabled, relay removed. I was just curious why an after market 30spl axle come with speed wheel, now I can’t find the thread about it being an option. No biggy,

Go figure, all the FABTECH poly-ball and uni-ball joints I need are available on Amazon. 4x4 Wholesale buck cheaper, but no free shipping.

That’s the number for the FABTECH rear shock, rebuild kit is available, which is o-ring seals. Have not removed yet, still just hanging. How do I know if they require any work when I get them off ? Tube pretty rusty, shaft appears clean. I have not done a search yet for a replacement 6” inch rear shock. Anyone know a source? FABTECH offers no service or replacement.

Do you have the tools to rebuild the shocks? A way to charge them once they are back together? Being in CA I'd imagine there has to be a shop that could do it within a reasonable distance.

Here's some kits for the Dirt Logic shocks.

Fabtech will also service them.

I forgot about KING shocks. I will go with them, heard good things about them.

If you want to replace your current shocks there are plenty of options. AccuTune used to be the go to online shop but isn't the favored anymore but I don't know why.
They sell Fox or King shocks and will tune them for you depending on which model of shock you purchase. Most on here like Fox.

I am sure there is a shop around. I am not up shock technology with gas pressure and all that, now I know. Very good. I will just clean them up for now.
I still need to review the spring mount relocation you sent me.

There are kits out there that that replace your upper spring mount also instead of reusing the stock one if it's rusted or something but yours looks to be in good shape.

Your rear spring have to bend forward a little bit due to where the upper perches are located. By moving them directly above your rear axle you get better articulation & alignment..
The purpose of relocating the rear upper spring seats is to make the bump stops line up again after raising the pinion.

It is a good idea, bolt in relocation is interesting with shorter springs, but relocating what I have is better? Ride height lower?

If you read most didn't have a lower ride height. None of these kits are bolt in. They all require you to weld the brackets on. Relocating what you have is cheaper and if there isn't anything wrong with your perches there isn't a reason to get a kit. I was just mentioning that there were kits because you'd said you had some rust and those perches can rust out first.

I saw this in the beginning of the thread you sent me, came with lift kit I guess, thats what I meant by just moving existing and weld much stronger.
I am taking a break today, parts should start rolling in tomorrow, I suppose I’ll need access to a press for ball joints on long arms and upper uni-ball joint

I take it the AirRock set-up is no longer available, pretty slick.

I haven't looked at ORO's website lately but it was still available last year... And even if it's off his website if you contact him he might have one in stock still or know someone selling a used one. I bought a used one a few years ago so I'd have spare parts.

Edit: Last time I talked with Steve he was having issues finding good help. Looking at the website he isn't offering the AiRock for any of the Jeep platforms right now.

Here's it in Off-Road Demo mode

I'll add that if ORO is going to stop offering the AiRock it's had a pretty good run. I don't remember exactly when it first came out but I'd read about it in a 4WD magazine sometime around 2002-2003 before I'd gotten orders for Iraq. And I told myself that I'd LOVE to have the system on my Jeep & it would be cool to use my combat pay to buy it.

If this is the end hopefully he'll continue to support those customers who have bought the systems.

Not trying to derail your thread as I totally like your Jeep... But since you mentioned the AiRock, here's a thread I did explaining it a bit more.

No, worries, awesome set-up. So….If I find one, can it be integrated with my suspension? Thank you for your service. It’s ironic, in 05, I was taken out by MS when installing an automated line to manufacture a microelectronic subassembly for Military night vision goggles. That’s why I have difficulty not only physically, but more with my cognitive skills have diminished. I have done some screwball things working on this Jeep, only to look back and laugh. 😆
Have some energy this morning to get back at it.

I'm not sure how it'd work with the FabTech triangled rear since it's similar to the Full Traction setup & when I was trying to pick a suspension in 2006 before I'd bought the AiRock Steve had told me not to use the FUll Traction suspension which is why I'd done the Nth Degree suspension back then... There are parts that have to be modified that you couldn't return to stock easily but YES you could bolt one onto your Jeep. You'd lose your Coilovers and would need to outboard the rear shocks. If you're interested I can see if the installation instructions are online or if I have a PDF copy so you could see what is all needed.

Here ya go: http://www.wanderingtrail.com/Download/Airock_Installation G2.pdf

Believe me I know all about a diminished cognitive skills but mine's due to a full oil change and then some...
