    Frame question

I wouldn't touch that rig considering the frame has already been repaired. Why not fly down south and pick up a rust free TJ from the Carolinas or GA?

Tire selection for a first-time off-roader and Jeep owner

Americas Tire sells Wrangler Ultraterrain in 265/75/16. This is the exact tire I use on my hunting rig (Tacoma) and they perform well on and off-road. Have 40,000 miles on the set over two years and they have at least 50% tread remaining. I've been on every Big Bear lake trail and am confident...

LJ handles worse after 4" RockJock and Fox 2.0 install

Agree sounds like you have a legacy drop pitman arm that was installed with the prior lift. Take some pics of the pitman arm and your other steering components.

Anyone using aftermarket front axle shafts?

I've purchased 4 pairs of Ten Factory Dana 30 shafts and one pair of RGA shafts for a Dana 44. No issues.

    Where do I start?

Figure out your intended use for the vehicle, total budget, and expected tire size, which will dictate necessary modifications. I'd also determine if you have a Dana 44 or Dana 35 rear axle. You can find pics of both axles and compare to your current rear axle

Anyone running a transfer case cable shifter?

Cable shifter works well in these rigs. Current TJ has a Savvy cable shifter but I'm sure there are other options that work well.

    SOLD 2004 Rubicon Auto

Excellent price for that rig. Hardtop, doors, axles, and transfer case alone are worth your asking price. Hope it sells quick

    Front differential assembly

I wouldn't pay for installation of a new axle until thoroughly assessing the frame. You could spend thousands replacing the front axle on a vehicle that also needs a frame and new body. I wouldn't replace the front axle until you thoroughly inspect the undercarriage for rot. It would be a...

    Front differential assembly

What do you mean the axle snapped? Is this a broken axle shaft or is the axle housing broken? How rusted is the undercarriage? Post some pics of the front/rear axles and undercarriage. If this rig is a rusted out basket case then you may want to move on.

    What gears?

5.13 is as deep as you can go with the Dana 30. 5.38 is more optimal but won't work with your setup.

Currie / RockJock CurrectLync with 4.75" lift - drop pitman arm?

Body lift has no impact on suspension lift calculation. Do not install a drop pitman arm unless you want bump steer.

Thoughts on this Jeep for sale

For the asking price I would expect the rig to be properly geared. $11,000 for a rig with 185,000 miles and stock gearing/axle shafts is an issue. Factor another $3,500 for regear and shafts.

    LJ Frame Swap

Have you considered just selling this rig and buying a rust free LJ? Given your location there is no reason to deal with rust.

Fram owners in chapter 11 bankruptcy

I always wondered if Jerry changed his mind about fram filters due to some type legal threat from the company. Dude was an anti-fram hardliner on multiple forums then changed his opinion abruptly.

Suspension Decisions: Can’t Make Up My Mind

That drop pitman arm needs to be replaced with a stock pitman arm. Ball joints are easy and do not require repairing seals or opening the differential. I'd start with those items and see how the rig drives. If you still need to replace the suspension then given your intended usage I'd recommend...
