What did you do to your TJ today?

I also need to change my blinker fluid and repack my muffler bearings...
Make sure you use the synthetic. It lasts much longer between changes. (y)

Do you think closer to 1 degree could possibly eliminate all vibration? I might try getting closer to that 1 degree mark, . I read on here with the double cardin you can run the rear axle between 0-1 degree under, but to shoot for 1/2 degree which I think Im about as close as possibly with my degree finder.
if I was that close at the rear I would probably pull my front shaft and see what it does.

Also sometimes people aren't as close as they think...if you're differential has the flat spots on either side of the cover put the angle finder on that and just subtract 90... That's a good reference point.

Changed the transmission fluid (at 160,000 miles, i'm not sure the PO did it...ever) - put in RedLine MTL. 1-2 shift is so much better now (5 spd manual, 4.0) and overall drives a lot better now, but still trying to work out if I can improve the shifting/driving experience - are there other things I can do to tighten things up (e.g., tighten shift linkage, etc.)? I'm new to jeeps, so not sure if there are other options apart from replacing my synchros (which I can't do), but thought I'd ask :)

Something I found that had a profound impact to tighten up the shifting would be to check the (4) bolts that hold the shifter to the top of the transmission. I found that these bolts were so loose on my '01 that I needed to tighten down the bolts 1/4".

Bought a 4 pack of black chair leg deals and installed one over my on board air fitting up front.

I like this thread, but boy I feel like I'm really struggling to find something of value to post.

Sorta, like .....today, I tightened my valve stems.... tomorrow I plan to armor all my spare ....

I guess this is a sign of that brief period of time we think we are satisfied, or have it about where we want it, the illusion it's done .....while the folks that sell all the aftermarket parts are grinning ear to ear and stocking the shelves.

In a honesty, the last 2.5 years on here have been really fun, tinkering with a toy has been really enjoyable, I did that as a teen for years...it was called " having a car " in my family...if you wanted one, go get it and get it running.

Meeting @Hog and his gang has been a real bonus, he's a great bud. Really good folks.

I am really satisfied with my white 03 , it's not at all the ultimate Rubi, I know better. It runs good, drives nice, looks cool , and has a good overall accessory package- the bumpers and rock bars make a nice all around consistent look, and it's totally functional front to back, isn't butchered anywhere and is overall solid. I'm thankful to have it.

I also like that it's nice enough to turn heads, at the same time not so pristine you can't get it off road and enjoy it. And, like any Rubicon, it will get it done off road.

I'm going to run a new lead for the new rear LEDs with some wire I found that is proper gauge but heavily sheathed, and call it good for a while.

I am curious about those stock size stereo receivers that the screen comes out and stands up.. how hard are those to wire in and are they worth having.
Don’t let him fool ya... his Jeep is pristine and dolled up with all the goodies!!

Nice, that's a big help, thank you! It'll give me something to do tonight and I'll let you know how it goes.

Guess I know your party affiliation :ROFLMAO:
Is there two? Oh yea, the "right" and the "wrong". Bernie Sanders is why I moved from VT. Instead of giving illegal immigrants free social security benefits, I'm all for giving them a free ride home.

That's a good post.

Driveline shops say there is a little trial and error, at the same time CV shafts are pretty forgiving... relatively. I would also really check my transmission mount, and if you ever replace it, use a high quality rubber, not urethane. Driveline shops experienced with TJs see issues with those.

About 3 weeks ago Oreo got new jounce stops on all 4 corners. It’s amazing how that changed the ride, and I wouldn't think the way we drive that the axles would travel that far. The old jounce were missing for all intents and purposes.

This past weekend - a complete exhaust system and cat replacement, to include 4 new O2 sensors. @Chris has a bread on what sensors to use, and I posted on another thread the procedure I followed (didn’t have to drop the belly guard under the tranny).

Oh yeah - put a battery hold-down on her - removing the hunk of wood and lag bolt PO previously installed. Thanks Codaman! Your picture reminded me I did that last weekend. 😀
