Favorite touch-screen head units?

I just installed a Kenwood DDX6906S. Went with this model account I still like to play CD's. And front n rear cameras. Used the Metra install kit from Crutchfield.

I went with Pioneer head units in both my LJ and truck so I don't have to remember two different radio manuals. lol Truck unit plays CD/DVDs, LJ unit does not.

This is the LJ unit:
Amazon link - DMH-1500NEX
Pioneer link - DMH-1500NEX

Since it doesn't play CDs, it's about half the depth of the unit with the CD/DVD mechanism.

I used the Metra kit 95-6541. Painted it with Dupli-Color Stainless Steel to match the factory Appearance Package silver bezels.

How did your paint match? I grabbed a can of duplicolor but it’s more silvery compared to the factory which is more gray.

I'm liking the Alpine unit toximus used.
I installed one in my BFF's daughter's Escape and it seems like a good unit and has a very shallow chassis.

For those of us without a hard top, how would you keep these from getting stolen? I've stuck with the stock head unit for this reason, but would love to upgrade to something better. My Jeep doesn't get out much, but I would like to take it when backpacking in the wilderness. Leaving it for days at a trailhead makes me nervous.

I have one of these.

You can find them on ebay for just over $200 or from Xtrons directly for a little over $300. It's got buttons and a touch screen. You might have to get an external XM receiver and I've heard people complain about the sound quality. Maybe overall a little more for somebody that cares more about maps than sound quality? It's a little quirky because "Android" but as far a flexibility it's great. I had to add a fan to keep mine cool. Having built in offline topo maps with all your favorite trails on a deck that looks factory is really great.

I haven't heard of somebody stealing a car radio in years.

@Wildman this is the insane audio deck, the only thing insane is they are charging $1000

I currently run a $130 double din touch screen. Figure if it gets stolen it gets stolen. It’s currently acting a bit flakey so I’m considering a replacement.

I liked the Duplicolor SST paint color much better than the factory which is more gray as you said. You can see the gauge cluster bezel in my photo and tell it's more gray. That could either be the true color or 14 years worth of aging added in. I plan to pull the gauge cluster bezel and paint it, too.

Sounds like we had the same experience, I’ve been considering painting my gauge bezel also.

There are double DIN radios out there where you can take the faceplate off.

I like the non-blingy look of this one. But that price, wow. Do you need separate amps as well? And does it support a rear view camera?
It says front and rear cameras on Amazon.

The Alpine @toximus recommended doesn't support cameras so it's now out for me, I like my rock cameras so I'd rather not get rid of them.
Nevermind @Wildman proved me wrong.

The Sony I linked has three camera inputs.

You don't need separate amps, but I plan to install one for the speakers and the subwoofer.

Yes, it supports a rear view camera, which I have for it as well (y)
