Has anyone modified the body mount style steps to mount to the frame?

I want a step that is solid. So frame mounted preferably. I have a set of the factory ones, but my jeep has a bit of a lift and my wife is short.

I have aftermarket bumpers I am about to install, and would like a set of steps that kinda match anyhow.

The steps I like appear to all be body mount mounted.

Has anyone modified the body mount style steps to mount to the frame? Or made frame brackets that the steps can mount to? Pics?

Or has anyone found frame mounted steps that are not just the 3” hoops that came stock on the Ram pickups.

I’ve searched previous threads here but no luck.

Thanks
Gary

Tub mounted are definitely stronger than frame mounted. When installed correctly the rock slider does not move in relation to the tub. A frame mounted nerf bar will usually have some flex to it like your stock step. Not sure why that isn’t working for you. They’re mounted to the frame so a lift doesn’t change that. A larger tire size will raise the frame and hence the step.

Tub mounted rock sliders can’t reasonably be modified to mount to the frame.

Maybe you’re looking for something like this:

He is asking if the ones that get clamped by the body mounts can be converted to be frame mounted.

Like the old Poison Spyder’s?

Can they reasonably be modified to mount to the frame? I don’t remember seeing anyone do that. Not sure how it would really help his short wife situation better than the stock step.

I bought a pair of these steps and welded them to a flat plate. I then drilled and tapped the to bottom of my sliders for a 3/8" bolt so I can have them on when needed and then removed when going off road. You may be able to do them same by drilling the bottom of the frame or adapting them to mount to the side os the frame.
