Notice that the order date is before you revealed your purchase. Don't share this with any other forum member, Jeff, but I'm not really a yellow-hater. I don't want the others to think I'm gay. ;)

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Damn it, certified homo over here too. I better go talk to my wife.

Since this is less Jeep related and more 3d printed in general...

This is my latest project...

All the orange is ABS-GF (glass filled) and the gray is PA6-GF (glass filled nylon) I'm real close to putting power to this thing and trying to program it to do something...and hopefully not tear itself apart. Its a combo project...Its super interesting to me and it can really help me at work. I have about 500 bucks into it, TOTAL...not including my time nor the nearly 7 continuous days of print time wear and tear on my X1C.

And, Since I just finished it tonight, right ahead of my Christmas Party, this is the secret Santa gift I made for a really good friend of mine. He's a super Batman nerd and will be Stoked (I hope!). Nothing functional or anything I designed, but a very cool model nonetheless. Its incredibly detailed, and actually pretty large...about 20" from the front tires to the back. Its no wonder I never seem to have time to work on the jeep!

Thar's wild. How does the print work on that, Mike? Does it print in pieces?

Lots and lots of pieces. Imagine a revell or ertl plastic model kit, and then triple the number of pieces and remove any trees and identifying numbers / letters. I think the build profile has 28 plates.

I completely forgot I was wanting to print a Mecha Godzilla at one time. Maybe someday.

DO IT! My 3d Printer is a tool, mostly. Sometimes its nice to just make cool shit with it too. One of our local shelters was looking for 3d Printed toys to give away for Christmas...I ran a couple plates of flexy salamanders...Super Cute little guys.

This is why I've kept a lot of PLA on hand, always making things like this for the kids. Even my mom was out somewhere and saw a 3D printed flexy snake that she really liked so I was able to find the model and print her one.

The bonus to me is I can make useful stuff if needed.

For 4H I always help the kids build a rocket for the fair. Installing the fins has always been the hardest part. I bought one of these a few years ago.

They seem like a good idea but they are wobbly as hell and hard to center.

So my daughter and I fired up fusion and made a perfectly fitting alignment tool for her rocket. She got champion. Too young to take it to state fair though.

I don't know what that is, but sounds cool. I came across the UNIMOG video somewhat by accident...and now I want to print one! :D

Found this as well...

Tamiya Blackfoot. If you were into RC in the late 80's and early 90's, you had one. I actually have two, my brother and I both got them for Christmas one year. I think I was about 10 and he was 8, if I remember correctly. We had a blast with those things. Beat the crap out of them, put bigger motors in, bearing kits, wheels and tires, and then roached the transmissions, LOL. For a couple years, all of our allowance was spent at the hobby shop. I have all the left overs and tried to get him to take it for his kids...figured it would be a fun project for them, but he wasn't interested. I want to make something that looks like the original, but performs more like a modern crawler.

I didn't recall the specific model, but I'm quite familiar with Tamiya. Being of a certain vintage, I spent as much time and money as possible in hobby shops, though my focus was HO scale trains and pretty much any detailed plastic model, the larger the scale the better. Tamiya delivered on that last bit, though their kits and cars were always out of my paltry budget. I've always thought RC was pretty cool but required some investment up front, at the time I was lucky if the static plastic models got paint. :D

Speaking of Tamiya and large scale models, a few years back I was reminiscing about building those models as a kid and ended up buying one of these kits off Fleabay. Have yet to start it.

And speaking of Tamiya and RC, I suspect you're familiar with the Wild One. A few years ago, someone made this happen...
