Catastrophic Loss Of Engine Oil

The 4.0 is a tuff little engine, that is made to run hotter than I’d like, just don’t get them too hot(lol)

Copy that, this is a 2.5.

Kidding aside, the engine ran cold idle for about 10 seconds before shutting it down when it puked out those 3 quarts. Otherwise before and after that it was running with appropriate oil level. Seems like, so far, it didn’t sustain damage from low oil.

I ran seafoam in mine for the recommended time and then changed oil.

I had a leak and it was a loose filter dripping down the engine to the engine skid. I normally need to remind myself to not over tighten stuff so it will come off next time. I put on filters with the off hand so i don't have to drive a screwdriver through it for leverage to get it loose.

I guess there's a finer line between loose and tight than I can tell.

Or beer was involved both times.

It’s so inconvenient to get that tester back on haha so I’m not in a hurry to get that done today to look at it hot. I’m fine with the numbers right now.

Thinking my pump just grew muscles. Or it only pooped out a small sludge ball thing and big granddaddy Sludge is still in there squishing with my relief valve.

It is running great. I just shut it off and turned it back on a out 10 times in the In-N-Out drive thru with no problems.

To be clear too, I’m running full synthetic 10W-30 through a Wix 51085xp.

When an engine/oil is cold , the pressure always looks great . I would like to see 18 - 20 p.s.i. hot idle and 40 p.s.i. at 2200 - 2500 r.p.m. hot . You're likely just fine , but the hot readings will tell a more complete story , after you get a chance to check it . Hang in there !
