Ordered a box of 18 sqft Noico 80 mil Automobile Sound deadening mat which arrived today.
Removed the front carpets, vacuum cleaned, wiped down with windex and measured.
Installed mat in both front floor pans (total of 11 sqft); firewall to front seat mount and side and up the transmission well.
Will continue to back once the outside temperatures are cooler.

I did my whole tub a few years ago with the same stuff... 'really' helped with the cab noise...you'll love the difference it makes.

Added the 3D-printed defroster gizmo.
Fits like a glove and looks great.
The original grill may appear intact in the above photo, several of the joints were broken along the edge.

Seen that before and I've considered it because I don't know how many more times mine survives when I remove that panel.

But without the lattice - it seems like it'll be a screw and/or socket eating monster, at least for my luck...

Honestly, every single thing I have ever dropped there was small enough to fall through the factory screen anyway, but you could always cut a piece of mesh, screen, cheesecloth, etc. and secure it from underneath on this vent.
I may look into doing that.

If it's flat across the bottom, you could add on some gutter wire/grid with some JB weld to the panel.

I hear you on the screw - I've been luck enough that my moments have landed 'across' the OEM mesh. But I hear you that the OEM mesh isn't perfect either as far as sizing.

That nice added feature of why you have is that it does have a lip to it on top - so less likely sockets will 'roll' across the dash and fall in - unlike the recessed OEM mesh.
