For the last few months I've been obsessing about TJ's. I had to replace my '03 F150 as it is rusting away and have replaced it with a mostly rust free '03 TJ. I was looking for as rust free as possible, 4.0 automatic as it my wife will have to drive it sometimes. There weren't many to be had. Drove 11hrs to be scammed, saw a lot of rusty frames before settling on this one. The good: It's a Sahara with 125,000km or 77,000miles. It's got what was probably a 6" lift that is now about 5", sitting on 35/12.5R17s. It has heated seats and a remote start/alarm. The weird: It also has had all of the interior lighting converted to purple led's. It also came with the oh so vogue Angry Eyes grill cover and a lot of purple accents. The bad: The rear pinion bearing is shot, so I had to trailer it home. It has an electrical drain. It has seen some silty mud that has gotten into every seam. I've got my winter project. Couldn't be happier!

My wife and I both love purple, but I'm not sure about all of it. The wipers seem tacky done in purple. Not used to wipers sticking out that much. I've removed the purple bullet antenna, headlight stickers and the grill cover.

Love the (purple) passion of the previous owner. If I'm you, first thing is to flush out the frame and double check the inside. For your electrical drain, check inside the cigar lighter (if it has one). Sometimes something conductive will fall inside.

Welcome, and congrats on the purchase.

Most of the purple is a fairly easy fix with some sandpaper and spray paint. The under hood stuff, not so much, but it's not visible to everyone.

I agree that the grille needs to go, but it ultimately depends on your preference.

For the electrical drain, what is that beside the air intake? Start looking for all of the aftermarket electrical accessories and how they're wired. Checking for bad grounds, or things being wired to constant power (or direct to battery) that should be on keyed power. This can cause parasitic draws. Also, just check the age and health of the battery as it could be going bad. Same with the alternator to ensure that it is properly recharging the battery.

It looks like the front driveshaft as been rubbing on the skid plate or something.

I like purple, but always think random bits and pieces of a vehicle painted any random color looks odd. I’d rather have the whole Jeep purple.

Like @bbaldwin237 mentioned, a little bit of your time, sanding, masking and spraying will fix that.
