Brandon's Arles Blue TJ

A 3-year old kept it taut?

At first I thought it was spooling off the car, then I looked more closely!

He's real strong! lol

I overestimated 80ft and parked the Jeep. I free spooled the line out and got him to carry the hook to mom's car while I pulled forward. Handy little helper!

Spent two days wheeling Tahuya with my son. We drove nearly every mile of trail that they have to offer and had a great time. Thanks to @PG for coming down and joining on Friday. It's always nice to have someone else there. Overall everything went smooth. Had two minor hang ups, both of which were solved with a single rock being placed for a tire, quick fixes.

As expected, the 35s are a bit much for the current 3" lift (and 1.25" BL), but I knew it was going to rub. Tahuya has a lot of twisty trails that really work the suspension. The passenger side would occasionally pop out the marker light bulb lol. The driver's front tire got into the metal lip behind the flare a little bit and got a few small cuts in the tread, but nothing bad. The passenger side also rubs the SwayLoc at full turn but that's not unique to my situation. Now that everything has been worked over, I'll triple-check that the axle is centered and maybe add another washer to the steering stop. Also going to read up on some other posts about it as I know I've read some before.

Honestly, I was pretty pleased with the way the suspension worked and it makes me question the idea of staying with a 3" lift. I'll be going to aluminum fenders (either GR or Artec) which will eliminate the rubbing on the flare and that fender lip. I think I might be willing to sacrifice that little bit of up travel. I really like the way it sits currently. I'm not decided yet, maybe I can get the flares done first and run it to see what I think.

After searching the hard lines both days, we finally found a couple buggies playing around. My son was so happy to get to watch them go up one of the big climbs (Sasquatch).

Lastly, after airing back up, I was briefly using the compressor to blow some dust off of my son's car seat. The compressor shut off and I assumed it was just hot so I packed everything up and called it good. When I unloaded the Jeep, the compressor still wouldn't turn on, but I could hear the fan running. Turns out I blew both 40A maxi fuses. Got some on order and will definitely be carrying spares in the future.

Drove my son to his first day of preschool this morning and had a hyper flash on the turn signal. Got home and replaced the bulb and made some tweaks to my toe in, steering wheel, and pinion angle. The toe seems to have made a difference and the pinion angle seems to be slightly closer. I shortened the lower arms a half turn instead of lengthening the uppers due to clearance at the tank skid. I think I'll leave it now until I swap the skid, install my rear adjustable TB, and either get new 4" springs or not. Still has a light shake around 60+, but slightly better than it was.

Another Tahuya trip in the books. Had to break out the winch for the first time. Was crawling one of the manmade obstacles on Trail 55 when the belly skid hit and hung me up. Got out to look and thought I could stack a rock or two and get off of it. Instead, the Jeep slid sideways a bit, pivoting on the belly, which brought the rear pinion in minor contact with another rock. Decided to just hook up and winch it in neutral so I could watch the yoke. Once the rock was under the diff I drove and winched and drug it off the rock. Ended up with a scraped and dented belly skid and some rash on the u-joint straps and slightly on the driveshaft.

Overall had another great trip with the boy! Oh and while cleaning up trash, found a cheap velcro camo wallet that I thought was a coozie. Picked it up with my hands full and carried it to the Jeep to check for any ID. Absolutely nothing inside..... except $96!

My twin used to get hot and do that. Turned out the wire I ran to it was too small. My temporary work around was unplugging one of the motors and running it like a single.

I used 6ga. but don't think it was true to size.

It was all installed by a reputable Jeep shop that I trust but I haven't checked the gauge of the wire. From my understanding, and what I see, it's all ARB harness.

I'm thinking it was because it was already hot and then I was using it continuous with a blow nozzle which made it go on and off more in a short period. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it does it again. At least I have spares now.

I’m guessing you have to sew it all and it is quite tedious?

Yes! And the line gets kinked and twisted every time you pull it through. So you have to pull like 4-6' or string through each loop, and then untwist it before you can do the next one. I'm not sure why it does that. None of the videos I watched had that problem? I'm tempted to find someone else to do it!

Dropping the Jeep off at the shop in the morning for the break-in service on the diffs. Was going to do it myself, but they give you 50% off since they did the install and I figure that it's worth it to have a trained eye inspecting them. And that way if something is wrong, they can deal with it.

Unfortunately, I don't have a good day to take it and wait with it. So I have to haul it up and drop it off, then go back another day to pick it up.

And based on our forecast, I think that means tonight is time to put windows and doors back on.

I just did the same this weekend. Tops back on.

Especially when wheeling with the boy because I have to crawl in the back to buckle and unbuckle his car seat instead of just reaching him through the side.

I was SO glad when my daughter could start helping me to buckle herself in. And it was part of why I'd removed the back seat so I could put her into the front seat instead.

I've been trying to decide if I want to put my top back on yet or not before the run at the end of the month. I'll see how the weather is towards the end of the month. It's already getting colder here now.

I was talking to John at Auburn Off-road this morning when I dropped the Jeep off. He was up at Naches this weekend and he said it's perfect right now. He said that it was nice during the day and just enough moisture to cut down on the dust, but cool at night. Though he said not too cold.
