Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

What did you do WITH your TJ today?

Rigs with 4lo are a great way to start kids in on learning a manual. Easy to get moving and they can't go very fast 😂

All of my four kids learned to drive in the Jeep, off road, and way before they were 16. I’m now hoping to be able to do the same for my six grand children.

I had my daughter move mine in our driveway last year, she was 10 at the time. It dawned on me if she hits the wrong pedal she's going through the garage so I had my hand on the shifter in case neutral was needed. We lived and all was well.

I was driving solo, tractors, on the road at her age. Times have changed or my father was nuts, maybe both.

Made 50,000 miles today.

I made a trip up to a mountain village on Sunday, just under 50 miles and it took four hours to do it. Went from just a couple hundred feet above sea level to over 5,000 feet. Some of the roughest roads I've traveled (and I have traveled in Central America, South America, Africa, Asia (including Outer Mongolia), Middle East. Had an tranny overheat on the way out but managed to survive it. Saw some of the prettiest country I have ever seen, met some beautiful people. Got to participate in the harvest of a special kind of agave used to produce a mezcal called lechugilla. Lived off of beans, tortillas and homemade cheese for four days. Bathed in one of the prettiest creeks with incredible rock formations. Didn't want to come back down. Would have stayed up there forever if I could have.

Never could have done any of that without my little Negrita. She handled the rough trails like a champ!

I slept every night on my friend's front porch. That rack on the right hand side of the porch was my bed, lined with a couple of blankets. Tuesday night I got to watch a thunderstorm from there while lying in bed.

The village has to be one of the most (if not the most) idyllic place I have ever visited.

Got to help my hosts milk the cows from which our daily allotment of cheese and curds were made.

Since the LJ is down with a bad hub, I took the TJ out for a spin with the new Mountain Offroad engine skid. Recorded a track up to an old mine site that doesn't have any history, unfortunately. But it's pretty cool with a nice view. Somewhere up there is a USGS elevation monument I still have yet to find and it would be a fantastic base camp for hunting or hiking to some other lakes where supposedly a D7 from days of old stuck.

And of course the most difficult part of the trip
