What did you do to your TJ today?

Got my new shocks from the Zuks Of Arizona installed 🤔 Temu style

Changed the thermostat and water pump. Looks like one of them was causing my weird overheating issues. All seems normal now.👌🏼 😁

Same here. Except mine was because of water pump failure. Came out of the local gas station and the LJ was marked her spot.

Ended up waisting $40 dollars of coolant because the thermostat slipped when. Bolting the housing. So half the coolant poured out.

Hopefully tomorrow I can run it and burp out any bubbles.

Question. Any tips for keeping the thermostat seated when bolting up the housing?

I used a couple dabs of high temp gasket maker to hold it in place.

Inslulated the fuel rail a few weeks ago but was still getting a minor stumble at startup under the usual conditions, though not nearly as bad.
Today I did the injectors with the same material in hopes that the heat soak will be eliminated. I used a self sticking mat that was easy to cut and install, $20 from NAPA.

You are so right about LI. Lived in Blue Point for 5 yrs and watched my '78 CJ-7 rust away before my eyes. The very air is full of salt!

I live on the bay. Like... on the bay. Come out of the driveway to fast and you're wet.
EVERYTHING is molested by the salt air. And the wind, carrying that salt, is constant. All the trees are leaning to northeast from the constant wind out of the southwest.
Took me two years to figure out where to put the outside kitchen because everything would blow out.

Part of life here.

.. I ordered 4 years ago.
That there is funny...

Chucky is a good guy. "Friends till the end". ;)
p.s. He has good taste in hats.

Two observations.. He sure is creepy.
And..
I need to know what detailing products you use. Specifically for the deep matte black on the tires, flares and sorftop.. love it.

As a guy who used to shoot paint and beat panels for a living...😬...but that's no slag on your painter. Paint matches can be a real bitch, and when you understand how the manufacturer deals with it, the shitshow starts to make a bit more sense.

While I can't recall specific colors offhand (other than Ford's Vermilion Red from the late 80's), I do remember dealing with a few jobs where matching seemed impossible. At 80%, you couldn't even pull that off with a blend.

Edit: Looking at the full side shot of yours again, I'm not so sure he could have done much better. I wouldn't have thought he had any trouble finding a formula or matching it based on the results. And I still hate you for having the color. Sorry. :D

I think they stole my color

Fixed incorrect adjuster cable attachment to the adjusting lever from the rear brake job we did a week ago on both sides:

IMG_5463.jpeg
Wrong

IMG_5464.jpeg
Right

Adjuster levers engaged the star with the cable springs flipped the wrong way, but one side had auto-adjusted too much and shoes were dragging after a week of driving. Hot and smelled like burnt brakes.

Easy fix, hoping to not have to futz with the drums again for a while…

Checks the cheap affordability box, 👍 but you will have issue with things sliding I think.
This particular one is advertised locally for free, so it definitely fits the budget.
As for gear sliding around, that's what these would be for... tie downs along the tub rails and/or bed liner.

What I really liked about this idea is the 'front wall' could remain and provide a means to 'seal off' the rear footwells behind the front seats and prevent things from wandering into areas you cannot see.
I don't expect the wheel wells to fit in the TJ, I'd basically just use the center 4' from the 'front wall' back as far as the tailgate will allow.

It's still in the napkin-drawing phase.
