Yesterday my Jeep began having a fuel line leak. Trying to find a replacement part and having issues. Here is the part that I need (first picture). I was wondering if a fuel hose like the second picture would work as a replacement?

You can use a stainless steel braided line such as the one in the second photo, yes. As long as the connectors match up it won't be an issue. That's probably what I'd do at this point given that OE parts have been discontinued and are impossible to find.

Driving the TJ a few weeks ago I noticed a major gas smell. Found out the hose coming from the hard line to the fuel rail for the 2.5L has a hole in it.

Tried to find this part online and at the dealer to no avail. Looks like the top part of the left side of the first image the OP posted.

Here are some pics of the part of the hose in question.

Hoping the collective here can help me find the part, if indeed it isn't the same as the one shown in the OP. If not, perhaps I can get that hose off, and replace the rubber part of it, keeping the existing end that secures into the rail. Suggestions on how best to fix this would be appreciated. I am not even sure what the diameter of hose I need for this section (I'm thinking 5/16 or 3/8"). Or, should I just run the braided line from the engine/rail down to where this portion of the fuel line connects?

The Jeep really isn't safe to drive or even run for a few minutes without risking a fire I think.

To discconnect the whole thing you need a fuel line disconnect tool. (See photo). When i fixed mine i just used fuel hose and clamped it right on to the fuel rail and left the adapter off. Mine had a crack in the metal part so i had to replace the full 4ft of fuel line or so. Idk if it is possible to just replace the little bit over fuel hose at the end like you are talking about or not.
