Hey folks,

So neither the cabin lights nor the door chime activate when I open either door. When I bought it, the owner had tube doors on it, so I assumed he had pulled the #4 fuse from behind the dash. I went in and looked today but the fuse is in there. Tried a fresh one and it didn't work either. Any ideas about where I should check next?

Check under the hood for the IOD fuse. Hopefully it is marked on the underside of the lid.

Post your model year if not and someone will advise which fuse you need to check.

That's helpful, so it's a 98' TJ. Here's a picture of what I saw when I took a look. Am I reading this correctly that the ABS has been disabled?

So it doesn't appear to be either of the fuses that are defeating the cabin light and door chime. Does anyone else have any ideas about what could be causingh them not to work when I open either door?

Is there voltage at either of those fuses? That may point to an issue either upstream at the voltage source for the fuse or downstream towards the bulbs and door pin switches.

IOD fuse #17 is in place and if that's good the courtesy lights should come on when you twist the headlamp switch past the detent at full dash brightness.

If they do that confirms power is getting to the dash wiring.

If they do come on with the headlamp switch it's possible the door switches have been disconnected. To check, grab hold of the door switches and wiggle them a bit as you pull on them. They should come out easily enough and you can check.

Fixed: The PO had removed and discarded the driver side door-jamb sensor, which I missed at first because I only checked the passenger door. He had also removed the bulb from the dome light. The jeep came with a set of tube doors so that I think explains it. He just didn't know about the fuse.
